The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Exactly...you know what I'm talking about. High profile van like mine, acts just like a sail.
I swear, and I'm not even exagerating (I tend to be a bit theatrical sometimes, but in this case I'm not) the wind caught my car and put me into the oncoming lane before I could do ANYTHING and I had BOTH hands on the wheel, driving with care. Just got back into my lane of traffic when the branch fell.
My heart is still pounding. I'm having a harvest blend bagel to calm myself down.

Jedis are screamin'...apparently the plastic just ripped off the chicken coop.
It can wait till after the bagel.

I am thinking that I really like the way this is ending up. I like the curvyness of the front line and the sweep of the steps. It is a little steeper slope on the rest of it than I thought, but I think it will work.
Any news on the bump issue?

It can wait till after the bagel.ROFL One must set priorities, right.

ROFL!
The house began to pitch
The kitchen took a slitch. . .

LOL Well, this isn't exactly Tornado bad...but just the sustained buffeting...and the gusts rattle the windows!
The wind is just howling through the trees.
The thing is, it does this every year and always indicates spring. I watch for it.
I remember when I was expecting Joshua, the spring before I had him...walking along and seeing my hair (which was like 2 feet long at that time) blowing straight up...I could see my shadow with all this hair sticking straight up.

Makes sense to me. I don't mind cliches in the pioneering SF writers; it's the cliches in the new stuff that bugs me! But I don't mind it in the old stuff, which I could read/watch all day--I like stuff like John Carter, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, etc.

Any news on the bump issue? Bump? What Bump?

You know I'm just havin' fun with ya. But after Isabel I will never laugh at high winds again.

I'm just having fun with you, too, hopefully to help get your mind off it. But seriously, we get that around here, too, although it's not necessarily an indicator of spring here. A few months ago we had gusts of 50+ mph that ripped up a lot of trees here. One on the shore of our pond was totally uprooted along with the earth under it--if you go out on the water and look at it you can see the bottom of the roots, dirt, and rocks that came up with it. Sometimes when it gets like that the wind is so loud it sounds like something outside is trying to get in my bedroom. It can be spooky!

Abby who? :)

The bump is gone.... they sledgehammered it!
This is how the top is gonna look. Turning out pretty cool. At the far end by the dock ramp.... I ~think~ he is going to carve it down so there is no step for rolling things.

He invented many of the space opera standards which later became cliche'. Keeping that in mind when reading his books helps to keep a proper perspective, I have found. Reminds me of this playwright, Shakespeare. Almost everything he writes is a cliche.
Hi for a few minutes, folks!

I like stuff like John Carter, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, etc.I think you would really like the Lensman series, then!

LOL! Yeah, I suspect he plagiarized a lot of his stuff from West Side Story :)

My goodness. That's an impressive photo.
