The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Well, in DD I'd be talkin' about my torture rack and how to surprise door to door salespeople by hiding behind the shrubbery.
Among other insane rantings and "I AM the grassy knoll!" declarations and "Unit 'Darksheare' has been neutralised" wisecracks.

No...I'm out of work at the moment. Laid off about two weeks ago.
"Hey-ho, to the bottle I go
to heal my heart and drown my woe!
Rain may fall and wind may blow
but there still beeeee...many miles to go!
Sweet is the sound of the falling rain
and the stream that falls from hill to plain!
But better than rain or rippling brook
is a mug of beer inside this Took!"

> I started writing fanfic when I was about 10 or 11. It was classic Star Trek, based on the Blish adaptations. My character was the Vulcanoid T'Raylyn Talia Tajahaian.
>And then there was the Battlestar Galactica stories ...
Battlestar was fun :) Did you see the pilot of the new series on the SciFi Channel? I thought it was pretty good. I guess they will be making more episodes later.
>Fanfic is so cool. Jen, what does one have to do to web publish?
I don't know if this is how Jen did it, but one way a friend of mine did it was to start a YahooGroup and invite fellow fans to sign up.

DD? Do I want to know what that is?
torture rack
Maybe not

Glad you're here. I am up for a trade. You wanna trade the girl for my boy. He sticks rocks in his ears, is 5 and has 7 crowns and 5 fillings in his head and half a toe (the other half is still inside the jet of the spa tub)

Dimensional Door ~ another long running set of threads here.

I hereby give myself a 15-yard penalty for that outrageous comment.

Dimensional Doors thread.
"A world of weirdness upon the net, please, don't step on the grass."
And while my choice of furniture is eccentric at best, it merely collects dust.
I'll be working on getting my hands on a full sized coffin from which to terrorise people during Halloween.
That is, if I don't get staked in the heart for it first.
Usually the conversation in DD is pretty dull until horrible things happen, then teh joking gets going.

I was into fanfic four years ago, when I was sixteen. At the time I posted to a site called fanfiction.net - it was the best then. It's gone downhill since, I understand, but at the time you could sign up, post your stories, get reviewed... it was organized into sections and pretty navigable.
Unfortunately it was overrun by thirteen year old girls in 2001...
I did a little Trek fic. Mostly, though, it was Harry Potter fandom... I have had ideas for LotR fanfiction but I quash those as heresy. I mean, that would be something like Bible fanfic, to me.

Okers.
As I usually say elsewhere, "Don't do anything that I'd do. And if it's broken, melting, and on fire, deny knowledge of it."
