The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Thanks, both of you, for the suggestions on my college problem. I'm going to go in tomorrow and talk to them. See how it falls out from there.

I'm still mad but I've had an exhausting day, so, not too furious any more.

Ready? No. Grr...I'd rather spend the calories on strangling my dog, but I'm refraining.

There is a certain item of clothing that she considers hers to chew, no matter HOW many times I say no. And no matter how hard I try to keep them away from her, she manages to find them and chew holes in them. Clean, dirty, directly out of the package...all the same to her.

It SOUNDS funny, but it really isn't. Especially as I have to keep replacing 'em and I can't afford to do that. But training has been completely unsuccessful since I never ever catch her in the act.

I'm really frustrated.

Guess I'll go do my workout and hope I'm calmer afterwards.

oh dear, sorry to hear that. I know what you are going through. I had a similar experience when I was a double major (Sociology and Russian) and the university cut finding for the Russian dept. in half ~literally. Went to my advisor and had to scramble my degree plan so I could have something coherent to go on, and then ended up applying for graduation that semester. Only, when push came to shove, I got the lil ole letter saying I had not taken all 4 credits of phys ed! Imagine my dismay. It got settled, but I did not get to receive my diploma upon walking across the stage. I had to wait another two weeks for that 1 hour of phys ed to process.

On another note, my mother is a graduation advisor at Ut-Arlington. She is one who gets to send those lil letters out to people telling them they cannot graduate for whatever reason.

What I would do in your position:
find a copy of the degree plan, or get one from the dept advisor showing where your credits fall according to the catalog. Make sure it shows any substitutions made as well.
If you have a copy of your transcript, or even an unooficial student copy, that will do, take it with you (plus the catalog you were admitted under) and the degree plan from your advisor to the registrar's office.

Those registrars really have no idea what havoc they wreak, and do not readily communicate with the departmental advisors. If your dept told you it was good to go, then it should be good to go, and you can get a copy of the degree plan filed on your behalf to prove that you jumped through all the hoops. Good luck.

She's in cahoots, I swear!

I know...it's funny in a way, but I'm still angry.

How annoying. Our dog eats socks. Chews great big holes in 'em. Fortunately he only takes them if they're lying about on the floor, so as long as we put them in the laundry basket, we're ok.

I'll be going home around 7:30, running, and then collapsing. Ugh...

Oh, on an upbeat note, my parents have decided to take us to Niagara Falls for the weekend. So I'll be driving one carload to Canada on Saturday. Maybe I can leave some of the brothers in Canada.

I think the dog is innocent and you have an underpants gnome infestation.

I thought their goal was to acquire 'em, not drool all over 'em and chew holes...

WHY did I bring this up?

Wanna trade dogs?

I need to get going or I won't have time to make dinner after I work out...

our dog does the same thing, though, recently she has been confined so it has not been an issue. ('sides, she only chews elf-boy's and PE's skivvies and socks, heh)

Oh dear, not another South Park person!

I never responded to your last post because I haven't been online... let's see. The fiction writing class I'm in is just a general fiction-writing class. Fortunately he's letting us write genre if we want to. I dislike writing plain-fiction. Give me SF, or fantasy.

I work all my plots out in my head, too, so writing them down is... boring, I guess. But I've got one now that I like. Sort of playing off the inverse of Clarke's Third Law - I've got magic spaceships. It's just for fun right now. I don't think I'll be published for some time yet....

Hasn't done mine in about a year. If'n we could get elf-boy to pick them up, she'd leave his alone too.
