The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

On the one hand... you oughta rest. On the other hand, Doomsday Book is really, really worth it. So I'm going to be a bad influence and tell you to stay up late ;-)

We're supposed to get 2 inches tonight. Think I'll go take a shower and then go watch Sonny get blown away at the toll gate.
To: JenB
Just curious, how far have you read into the Hamilton series?

I still need to get PE and msdrby to drive over one day so I can cook taquitos for them too. Was ready to do it last weekend... but Valentines and all... plus, PE and elf-boy had been sick.

I haven't noticed that far ahead... cause I don't believe the weather fools anyway.

I do read fast... and I have a high retention rate... it's a mixed blessing. On the one hand, I can get homework and studying done fast, on the other, I need new books all the time.
Today, though, I haven't read a single word of for-fun stuff... I might pack up for the evening and read until 10:30...

Okay, girlfriend ... what grad schools have you applied to, and which ones have accepted you already?
And, the big question: which one(s) do you want to hear from?
Time's a-flyin' on ... gotta get the right thoughts in my head! <laughing!>

Sigh... haven't heard back from any of them yet. Probably not for another couple weeks.
I'd really like to hear something pleasant from Stanford. After that... I applied to University of Iowa, Urbana-Champaign; University of Michigan; and University of Colorado. Also a couple "safety" schools because quite frankly I have no idea where I rank on the scale of potential grad-school recruits.
Thank you for asking! Keeping my fingers crossed a little longer...

Jen's going to Palo Alto! Cool!
Do they have graduate housing at Stanford, or do you want an apartment?

g'nad; unfortunately also an old Ozark tradition, burn the woods so's as ta kill the ticks and green up the grass. Horsefeathers, but it goes on each year.
To: Rose in RoseBear
They don't have much graduate housing... I'd like an apartment but if I get to Stanford, I won't be able to afford the rent! I can live out of my car for seven years, right?

Well...ten thirty or eleven wouldn't be tooooo bad...
Can't stay up all THAT late...got stuff for an omelet tomorrow. Red bell pepper, onion, ham and jalapeno jack cheese. Mmm! But I have to get up early enough to cut stuff up. There's motivation, I guess...
To: g'nad
I'm prolly too late...but good night!
