The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I don't think the chopped nuts sounds appealing, but then again, I don't like chunky peanut butter either! LOL

I bet you could substitute the chunky peanut butter and skip the added nuts...

Yeah, it is a texture thing for D too. He really doesn't like the texture of some things like mushy things. But he eats his brussel sprouts, spinach, and broccoli, and salad and tomatoes he loves. Won't eat the white mushy stuff, like califlower or squash.

sigh...remember the leak we had in Jr's bathroom? The one I "fixed" with recaulking the tub?

Jr. pointed out to me yesterday where the floor tile is cracked and that part of the floor is sagging in.

sigh...

Anybody wanna buy a kidney?

Don't keep nuts around my house, unless you count the people, LOL. If PE ants nut, he pretty much has to let me know, cuz I won't buy them otherwise. Stems from an incident when I was in high school. I was in a hurry one morning and ate one of those gold-rush ice cream bars for breakfast. The nuts got my molar just right, and CRACK! What had been a molar was broken into four pieces. Since then, I don't do nuts.

I think that's what it is with Matthew too...I mean, some things are so sweet and he can't eat them! Like jello, or jelly!

But he has no problem with pumpkin pie, or pudding.

See if the insurance will cover it. You just might be surprised.

My mother had a leaky tub problem. Turns out she was able to get insurance to pay for a complete bathroom remodeling. New floor, new tub. Hey, worth a try.

I had better go. I am so used to having DSL that I forgot I was on dial up today.

I am spoiled rotten.

I'm thinkin' our other insurance story might have pre-dated your arrival here. It wuz shortly afore your wedding.

Last August our master bath had a leak that came through the living room ceiling. Insurance paid for the repairs (completely redid our bathroom) and...replaced our piano. Cost insurance in the neighborhood of $7,000-8,000 to fix.

When we noticed the leak initially, I already talked with our insurance rep. He advised us not to turn in another water related problem anytime soon.

Anybody wanna buy a kidney?

No...but I'll trade bathrooms.

*sigh* I don't have cold water in the shower, so the water is too hot. The overhead showerhead doesn't work, so I have to use a hand held thing. It's a claw foot tub, so it has one of those little ring things to hold up the curtain...but that thing is busted and though I've used much tape, it still sags from the middle out. I don't wanna look under the tub, but I think the wood is messed up there because of water getting out of the messed up curtains via the hand held shower that sometimes doesn't get pointed the right way when I'm tryin' to use one hand to actually wash.

I can't wait to have SOME extra cash so I can start fixing little things.

Ah yes...ice cream for breakfast in high school! I remember the days!

Ouch, that sounds painful!

I slipped on a pickle in the high school cafeteria wearing stiletto heels and a dress. One foot went one way, the other went back and I landed on my right knee, split my kneecap right in two.

Jumped up, ran to my job (I was the high school security officer's secretary). Boss asked "Are you ok?" I apparently was a bit gray in the face. "I think I broke my leg." says I.

They had the nurse come get me and they wheeled me out in a wheelchair!

I know this don't help, but if the wood under there is wet, you really don't wanna let it go too long.

I know. But I don't know what I can really do about it, besides not showering at all.

Even with a real shower ring...it's not completely possible not to splash SOME of the time.

Guess I'll have to figure out a way to try to dry everything every time I use the tub.

We watched Red, White and Blond over the weekend. It was dumb. The best part, imo, was Elle's manicurist! That woman was a hoot! She had a bigger part in this movie...

Anyway, imo, she she stole the show.

Just watch it and make sure there's no standing water when you get out.

Most of the time there isn't. But there have been a few times when I've been in there later in the day and noticed a puddle, presumably from water that got in back and is now spreading. I clean that, and it's never been enough that I see it in the basement, but I still worry. *bites fingernails*

I really need to a) get the cold water fixed, and b) get the showerhead fixed, and c) get a shower curtain ring that stays up so the curtain stays put!

Actually I'd like to just get a real, modern tub...I hate the claw foot thing. But that's for another day. Or I can just wait for my homestead...
