The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

You know, now that you really aren't as far from me as you used to be we might think about mooting on a good race weekend. If I hadn't had this stupid project dumped on me at work I would have loved to drive up there on this break and hang out and just watch the race.

Well....I don't have anything planned for just about any weekend right now.
< gripe > I guess this really isn't NASCAR country. The so-called MRN affiliates around here didn't carry the 125's and I can't find the Busch race on the radio. < /gripe > Maybe I should get on the Kansas board and gripe about it. :)
To: Overtaxed
That would work!
I gave up my NASCAR membership about 10 years ago when I realized I couldn't afford to raise 2 kids by myself and maintain my dirt track car. Now, the kids are gone but I don't *make* enough to have a car.
Myranda's dad started racing dirt tracks in Kansas City in 1964. He was good enough that he moved up to national sportsman class races in 1970. There are a lot of small tracks up around that area. Especially over in Missouri... which isn't all that far from you.

Well according to MRN's website, there are several affiliates nearby....guess they only do the Sunday race.

They're still doing interviews and drying off the track.
To: Overtaxed
It's on again now! Went to take care of the food and it was back on.... still dryin' the track.

Well, it's afternoon, and the sun's out here in Austin. Here's our tree from this morning:

And here's a picture from a colleague of mine. (Tom, my friend, is the guy standing next to the snowman.) He took this last night. Hair, it's not wearing a cowboy hat, but it's kinda cute:

Your tree is *still* beautiful! And I live the snowman. It's still falling here, though not as heavily as it was earlier. It's not what I'd call "light" snow however.
I'm sure Bear would call it "light." LOL

The first year we were here we had one a WHOLE lot bigger. I have photos but I don't have the scanner hooked up right now. Comes from that den re-derangement I'm in the middle of. And I've got things strewn all over the floor!
