The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Ya heard anything about Gov Perry's wife wanting a divorce? A friend of mine at an ABC TV station mentioned having to send their sat. truck today for coverage.

I don't have a Milky Way either. But I do have a dollar...and it's very slow here...and I'm bored...and it would take me awhile to walk over and get one. It's going to be awhile until dinner, too, since I'm going to church at five.
I think I might.
Is this interesting or WHAT? LOL

Go on, treat yourself.
I'm trying to decide whether to do my workout tonight or Saturday...

I worked out last night, since tonight won't be a good night. I'm off until Monday, though I may do some walking outside tomorrow if it's nice.
Only downside is that the initial excitement is already starting to wear off, especially as I'm realizing it's going to be awhile before I see much in the way of results. I don't JUST need to get in shape as I have every other time I've gotten back into working out...I need to lose some weight - not much, but ten or fifteen pounds, maybe, which will take a couple of months. And I'm very, very impatient. I have TREMENDOUS respect for folks that are able to stick with diet and exercise for the long haul. Here I am looking forward to a few months of work, and I'm discouraged.
But that's what exercise nags are for. ;-)
You know...starting up with this again makes me wish yet again that I hadn't lost touch with my last serious exercise buddy. I used to go to the gym in the evenings, fairly late, like seven thirty or eight when not as many people were there. There was one girl who was always there when I was and we eventually introduced ourselves. We ended up as really good friends. She was a real sweetheart...2J reminds me a little of her. A stay at home mom with two little boys, though hers were only about two and four at the time. We trained together for a 5k, though she walked it instead of running due to a knee problem...and we just hung out together all the time! I lost touch when we both left Germany, and her last name is a common one so it would be hard to find her. *snif*
Ironically, her real name was Jen!

I came up against an obstacle, though. The candy selection at the bookstore has been worse and worse over the last few months - I don't get any often, so it's all the more noticeable. This is since they got a new manager, but I don't know if it's connected. I went down to get a Milky Way and they didn't have any! And the candy rack looks really sparse and picked over. I asked her if they were awaiting a shipment or something and she kinda stared at me and said no, that they wouldn't be carrying any of those kinds anymore. They don't even have really common stuff like peanut M&Ms. I don't know if they're going to eliminate candy altogether or what...I hope not! That's my emergency supplier on days when I just gotta get a chocolate fix...

If you want a diet, I really recommend a reduced-carb thing. After the first few days you don't crave that many sweets. And it's easier than eating rabbit-food.
I hope I can stick to this program. You have to keep me on it...

I'm not really dieting...exercise should be enough, along with not going hogwild on sweets. The main thing is sticking with the exercise even though it may be a few months before I get anything close to the results I want.
The next two weeks will be the hardest for me. Since I've been in shape before, I know that at first, I gain muscle without losing fat, and look and feel bigger than ever...if that makes sense! After that it'll be better. I'm not seeking perfection...just want to be in decent shape, and have my clothes fit better. I wear the same size even when I'm fit...which I guess is both good and bad.
I need to sort through my music and find stuff I like listening to, so I'll have music to run to!

Argh! Not that!
Last night I had Allison Krauss blaring. Bluegrass makes good jogging music.

And I'm thinking of checking out Doomsday Book...just in case I finish Princess Bride over the weekend.

I am just fixin' to hang the last of the linens on the line, then I'm washing the bathmats, let them hang on the line too. Then that is IT for line-dried stuff. Just a medium load of towels left, that can be dried in the dryer.
WHEW! Everything but what we're wearing is clean.
