The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I have to be honest. I HATE the cold. That is why I love Texas. You can wear shorts almost year round. BUT I love to see the snow. It is so pretty!

With my phone I can pull up the "Messages" and you can supposedly push a button - it's under the screen and you push it to make menu selections - to listen. I always get an error message when I do that.

I just dialed my cell number from my cell phone. I wasn't able to get to the messages the last time I tried it.

Well, it's a novelty there, for sure. Here, we expect it, but it doesn't stick around long...snows, then gets dirty then melts aways. Today it's gonna be in the 40s. I'm hanging the bed linens on the line here in a bit.

Not as cold as you. Maybe it won't snow here!

It's going to be warm tomorrow! Maybe over 40 degrees!
Most of the snow has melted. I can see ground again, for the first time in weeks. No longer is there a hump of ice at the bottom of our driveway...

Thanks Jen. It helps to hear that from someone closer to his age. We don't have a problem being strict when we need it. We're just concerned it's more than just a surface "attitude" problem.
Something has triggered this. We just need to figure out what.

Sorry to get everyone's hopes up about the knives, but I thought there was a chance there for a minute. As excited as you all were thinking we got them, is how excited we were to get the radios. Thanks again everyone, and we'll keep hoping the knives turn up. I thought you already had the radios in your hands, and there was a second package from me. I sent both insured, so you'd have to sign for both. Are you sure there's not two packages involved?
Thank the post office for me that at least you got the radios in a timely manner. If the knives are truly lost, I'll think up of some curses for whoever lost/stole them.

But oh, I'd love a nice soft chocolate-chip cookie...I don't like the soft ones...unless they're soft 'cause they're still warm.
I think we had this conversation at Entmoot, didn't we? With Clare?
To: RosieCotton
I meant a soft because it's just out of the oven cookie. Rest of the time, something with a little crunch is good.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure we did debate this at Entmoot! Sigh... I can close my eyes and see dozens of memories...

I think Clare was saying she liked those "Soft Batch" cookies that are artificially soft...and Bill and Margaret heckled her about it to no end.
Hm...I have chocolate chips in the cabinet at home. Not a whole bag, but...
To: RosieCotton
You could make half a batch...

Precisely!
To: JenB
Or...what I'm also considering is making brownies but putting a few chocolate chips in 'em. Since they're already chocolatey, it wouldn't matter that it isn't a full bag of 'em.
To: RosieCotton
Ooohh... yummy...
If I left now...
