The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Fortunately, it's empty. I'd already determined that before bringing it home from school cause I tried to get into it from the bottom.

But I know that's just me. I got a lot of anger and resentment in me stemming from my school daze. That's just the way it is. And your job as parent is to pass all your angers and resentments on to your kids... That is also the way it is!
Honestly 2J.... my comment was a joke... I don't have traumatic school scars.

Steve actually signed up for a Discover Card, to get a free tee-shirt. GAVE them our unlisted phone number. I got one of those $30 Tele-zappers, and put it on my phone line. It gives out that four-tone "this number is disconnected" signal whenever the phone connects, whether calling or answering. It's especially useful with computerized dialing systems that dial a whole bank of numbers blindly, since the false "disconnected" signal usually causes the computer to delist your number. Then when telemarketers sell or trade their lists, your number is propogated as "disconnected".
It's an extra layer of protection, along with the do-not-call list, which has some definitional holes in it.

LOL Just kidding but just barely.
Really, I only accentuate the positive...and see? It's working because Matthew saw the good in not having to stand in line, even when it never entered my mind!
I told him about the licks, but not how much I despise the old hag.

When I'm home, callers get a busy signal. When I'm not, they can talk to the machine. I check the caller ID to see if it's someone I want to call back or not.

My cell phone has voice mail. I can get calls for free on it, and I can dial in my password from my landline to check my voicemail at no cost. I'm thinking of giving my number to people and having them leave a message and then I'll call 'em back from my land line or wait (if it's long distance) and call them back in the evening when my long distance is free.

Good news on the lock picking. I have a nice, like new, 4 drawer file cabinet at hole that I rescued from the trash at an old office. It was being tossed by a charity organization.

Corin, I know you don't need parental confirmation, but... there were times when I was younger when my parents had to be strict with me. And I didn't like it at all. But now, I'm really glad they did.

Good afternoon! I'm in the office now. Thank goodness, I'm not sick today.
I'm having a nice spicy taco-meat-and-cheese mix in... lettuce. Ugh, sometimes I hate low-carb.

I called in the evening and set it up because you have to do it from your cell phone and I have free minutes in the evening.
Then you could use it like an answering machine while you are on line. I just look at the cell phone while it's ringing and it tells who is calling (usually). I can then either check the message or call them right back from my land line.
I am vey proud of my cell phone...
