The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hello! Good morning! I'm up!

My back isn't bothering me so much (I took two Aleve last night) and I seem to be on some kind of roll...got Joshua ready for school already. I'm going to take advantage of it by getting some work done before I get stove-up. (Couldn't vacuum, mop with my back out).

Expect me when you see me!

I'm kinda looking forward to the weekend and kinda not. My younger siblings will have several friends over (the ones Jim is picking up today), and since none of them drive and Jim has a little car (normally), I imagine I'm gonna be asked to chauffeur. I don't wanna. I want to stay inside and read and watch cheesy old British TV shows...

If you're staying in, let Jim keep Van-sama.

He's a lot less easy going than I when it comes to drivin' them around...so I imagine I won't completely get out of things, at least for Friday evening.

Sigh.

Just finished morning meeting - we have a quick meeting to divide up the days' work orders and have a mutual griping session about certain users. ;-) I like our meetings...we get stuff accomplished. Always a good thing.

We tried a little bit.... had a couple pints in the can.... It didn't want to burn!

We had some dandy bonfires out on the artillery range. It didn't matter how wet the wood, just cut open a couple of unused powder increments and sprinkle them around.

We had one fire so big, you had to stay 20 feet away from it because of the heat. But it attracted bugs from miles around. They'd be flying way above the visible flames, but the heat was so intense they'd catch fire, and crash into the fire. It was neat.

I've never met these friends. They're homeschoolers Margaret, Stephen and Bill met on a youth retreat awhile back. This is the first time they've come up to the house for a visit.

They do have an older brother who's almost 27 and something like an engineer...so there is THAT to motivate me. Maybe I can pump 'em for info... ;-)

Real effective, ain't they?

The best was a few years ago, though...young rookie cop rear-ended a school bus! Oops...

He ain't a cop anymore, as you can imagine. I couldn't help feeling a bit sorry for him...he was THE biggest news story at the time, and everyone was talking about it.

Oh, cool.

I have a theory about this... no clear frontrunner or obvious nominee at the Dem convention means that Hillary! will have to accept the nomination, "to save the party".
