The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Here's Joshua, in his tee-shirt that he himself silkscreened (with the tee-shirt guy standing behind and helping him.)

It says "For we walk by faith, not by sight"

It was amazingly interesting and the guy was really really enthusiastic and related well with the all the kids, from the big ones to the little ones. He actually put some of the older kids to work (we had a handful that were actually in high school.) They got to work making the silkscreen and setting up the equipment. Then the little ones stood on stools and made their own tees.

The owner was a really nice guy, seemed to just love talking to all those kids. A rarity.

Oh yeah...lots and lots better.

I started Hardy Boys "The Great Airport Mystery" to the boys in the evening now. It's good...I stopped after just one chapter to much moaning and grumping. They were loving it.

The name sounds familiar...I'm sure we read that one, too.

One of these days I'll have to start collecting 'em again! Even if *I* never have kids, surely some of my siblings will...

Yay! It's four o'clock!

Hi there guys!! What's happenin???

2J - you used to live in Alvin? :D its getting swallowed up now.

Nully - thank you for the Red Dwarf reminder!! Hubby and I want to get the third season on DVD, but can't find it...don't think its out yet. Personally, I liked the first two seasons as well, but the third was the funniest...its when they really hit their stride.

Wneighbor - how ya doin?! Did you ever get a chance to read up on Master and Commander/see the movie?

Will check back in a few...gotta go get the little one from school...

Thanks GB58.
I appreciate your testimony.
Your victory gives me hope for my Dad.

I don’t try to pretend I know what he is up against (and you against your cigarettes) because I have never had a habit as tough as cigarettes or alcohol. In addition, I have NEVER put him down for his drinking. I wouldn’t stand there and condemn someone especially my father for a condition I cannot relate to, personally. I have always been told it takes a hold of your life. It is the hardest thing to break away from in the world. And as you stated it is the remembrance of the misery that is your driving force to stay sober, that is what breaks my heart the most about my Dad. The fact that I know he is miserable and has that small part of him that wants to quit but it has so much control over him. Your sobriety is an AWESOME triumph and I am so delighted for you. I will be praying for your fight against the smoking.

Today turned out so warm and sunny that the horses finally got to have blankets off to run naked.... Pictures are tough in transitions between shade/harsh light!

Bay runnin' naked in the back forty...

This one was kinda cool.... panned with him and stopped him.... all accidently!

Hey 2J! Sorry your day of beauty turned out to be painful! And please don't take this the wrong way! I am not trying to be facetious. But, I have always thought, "You get what you pay for". Now, that doesn't mean you can't get a heck of a deal for some product or service. There is a difference there. I have just been too scared to put my hair and flesh in the hands on some one that hasn't exactly completed their training and learning process. My in laws have done hair for over 30 years and he has some of the same clients he picked up in beauty school. So I don't mean that all of the students out there are nincompoops. There are some students out there that know what they are doing. It is like playing the lottery though. Some you win, some you lose. It is too big of a gamble for me.

Yeah, I got a fifty-fifty deal with this one...he did a great job on the hair, not so good on the nails.

My hubby said the same thing...after I essentially wasted the money on the nails. (He coulda said a lot more, bless him.)

Here are pictures of the Blue and Gold Banquet. This is a family picture. Did you ever see a kid hold his head so high?

Here I am at the table with the two jedis.

Now this picture is a little blurry, but we're basically flipping Matthew upside down to get his Bear pin. (I don't know why.) Steve flipped, I pinned and Joshua courteously held his cap on for him!

We had a good time, can you tell?

What Great pictures! You guys look like you had lots of fun and Matthew certainly looks proud. :0)

Say...what do you do when your kids become better spellers than you are? It hasn't happened yet, but thegirl will certainly surpass my spelling ability someday and I am just trying to prepare myself...
