The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Don't watch NYPD Blue. Actually don't watch much TV at all anymore unless I'm in the kitchen doing something or if I'm at the gym on the treadmill.
Can't recall the last time I actually sat down to watch a show all the way through.

Treadmill...
I'm actually not as sore today as I thought I'd be! That's positive.
55 days to go before supposedly I'll be able to run for close to 30 minutes, based on Jen's plan...we'll see. I may have to add a few weeks to that time.

I like puppies!
I remember when my Boston Terrier pup was teething... I used to let her chew on my fingers... (sigh)

He is so pretty in motion.... had a gorgeous coat that just shimmered. That reminds me of an item that made the local news last week. The Ohio State Fair was revoking the championships of five heifers because the owners made toupes for them out of animal hair, and glued them on. This was to enhance the appearance of the cows' coats.
While I thought that was hilarious, it reminded me that some show cheating can be abusive and even torture to the animals. I've heard of some kinds of abuse at the big-money Arabian show at Scottsdale that should bring the death penalty for the guilty.

I am very familiar with the abuses at Arab shows, I was in it and saw it even at the local level. Vinegar in their orifices to make them carry their tail up in halter class?
I had a stallion.... the whole environment turned him on, so I didn't have a reason to cheat. But I wouldn't have done that.

Oh lordy...who thought that one up?
*shudder*

The judges caught on and would sniff their butts. Not the most glorious moment in the career of a judge that remembers the good ole days.

Morning everyone!
Today promises to be just as crazy as yesterday was, so I'm posting while I can!
First off, let me say HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE!!! :-)
As far as puppies go, specifically lab puppies, let me tell all of you that Jessi is driving me INSANE!! I'm thinking of changing her name to Terry...as in, terry up the cushions, terry up the dog house, terry up the plants, terry up everything!!!!!!
My yard is destroyed, but she is too cute to be mad at for long. If my situation were different and I had my way, Jessi would be in the house where I could keep a better eye on her, but unfortunately, I'm kind of stuck where I am for now. *sigh*
Glad the Newf won though!!! That's a heckuva dog!
On to food!

What is ironic about ~it~ is that different breeds have different little fads and trends that get over-emphasized to the point of abuse. Where Arab people like high-stepping half-crazy looking horses with High tail carriage (and will sink to abuse to achieve it if it don't come natural)...
...Quarter Horse people right now like low "daisy-cutter" movement where the horse moves with the lowest "action" possible, head nearly on the ground and I hear they sometimes cheat and deaden the tail with anesthetic or surgery if the horse tries to carry it. They want a dead tail. Horses look like they were run 100 miles before the show.
People..... will never understand 'em.

I was wondering what kind of job your son in law does for the military?Well, ya know, I prolly don't have all the information you'd like to have. He was being a platoon sergent in Germany for 3 years and then in Baghdad for 8 months. He just got back in the states and is stationed at Redstone Arsonal now. Doing weapons testing. I'm kinda thinkin' I need to make a trip over there to see just what he gets to do! I think I could really get into watching him work there. He's only 3 years away from retirement so he's looking at this position at Redstone to help him get a civilian job with some defense contractor when he retires.
Incidently, his dad is also retired army. When his dad retired he became a Los Angeles police officer. The dad just recently retired from there also. Tom was thinking of following in his dad's footsteps in that until this Redstone thing came up. I dunno that I think LA would be the greatest place for him to be doing that. And I don't think I want my grandkids growing up there either!
Tom also has twin brothers in the army. One of 'em is still in Iraq. The other is doing recruiting duty somewhere in California right now.
