The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Your life is an adventure!
My life is potholes, right now. Lots and lots of potholes. Worst since I've started driving. But hey, the sun shines today and it is warm... close to 40 degrees!

and the singers don't whine the way a lot of modern country singers whine. Don't make me turn this thread around...
To: Corin Stormhands
What? They do whine! I can take whining in very small doses. Lead singer of Third Day whines sometimes. One of the guys in Caedmon's Call whines sometimes. But in country music... urgh...

Well...in her defense, some of 'em DO whine.
Have you ever heard Rascal Flatts, for example? Yeesh.

Afore this goes any further, lemme jus' say I don't rightly take to a couple of yankeegirls (and I mean that in fondness) criticizin' country music.
You don't have to like it. But a lot of us do.

She shoulda caught on when he brought out the belt-sander to buff her nails...

Um...I never said I didn't like country music, thank you very much. I said I don't like a lot of what passes for country music these days.
If you were to look through my music collection, you'd understand.
To: Corin Stormhands
But the other guy doesn't have to play it so loud I can hear it around my headphones, 10 hours a day! I don't mind the existence of country music. I just don't want to hear it. Or at least not this much.
Hey, I could play RelientK really loudly... the boss sometimes plays Christian death metal, after 5... but I'm considerate.

I don't think yankeegirl is an insult, do you, Rosie? It's descriptive. Just because some yankees are liberal snobs doesn't mean we all are...

Far too many country boy bands these days, for one.
To: JenB; Corin Stormhands
Well...I admit it still gets my hackles up, mostly because I've known southerners who are just as incorrect in their stereotypes as any northerner could ever be, and who think of us as preppies who all live in big comfy cities and are more worried about society and clothes than anything else. My protesting and explaining what it's like in this area means nothing to 'em.
But yankee in the older sense of the word - meaning a hard-working, tough New Englander...now that definition I don't mind.

Shoot...this could be pretty sweet. Wish me luck!Prayers Seamus! Lots O' Prayer!

There's nothing like being in Big Bend and watching a thunderstorm roll in.

Do you think we should set up a non-profit PayPal account for this? There would be some minor fees, but we could also advertise as a "shop" in the non-profit section of the PayPal mall. I looked there, and there are some troop support, and lots of leftist, groups there already. Sounds interesting... something I know nothing about... would like to know more information but don't expect I'd have time to digest it today. Will scan the posts to see if anyone else has commented on this.

Yeah, I have the first 3 seasons of both South Park and The Simpsons in ours... currently at 117 selections. It's kind of addicting, browsing through and adding stuff to your queue.
