The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hullo! Goodbye!

We're gonna go on a date... stopping by the sale at the tack store to check out saddles, then going out for dinner. Be back later.

I spent the next little bit pretty euphoric after I made those reservations! This is turning out to be such a nightmare of a time at work that I need this trip almost as much as entmoot! Different reasons, but both times I just needed something to think about to get through some tough times!

I think one of the best decisions I made recently was to jump right in and decide to go to entmoot right after I first started posting here! It was really going out on a limb for me. No way at the time that I could have known what was going to happen in the next few months and thinking of entmoot got me through a lot!

Banquet for Bubel/Aiken Foundation in April (Kansas City, MO).

The first half of this year is looking pretty durned good compared to last year! :-)

Steve and I have (a possibly archaic) belief

I feel the same way and try real hard not to ever be alone with other men...also I told G'nad that if I ever find myself even slightly attracted to another guy, I let him know...had to do that once...the guy was a brit with a sexy accent. :-) That was about 9 years ago. Was never alone with him, just got a real uncomfortable vibe from him. *blush*

Does Steve show you the same courtesy with not being alone with other women?

Secret of Roan Inish.

I loved that movie. It was magical in a innocent-child sort of way.

The fence is all fixed, and yes, Penny.... the horses were in that area. Lucky thing is, they would find the sudden appearance of a tree in a new place to be scary, and they prolly wouldn't go near it for awhile (Never know, that tree might ~move~ again!)

Marl told me about the time a big storm had gone through. It was suddenly quiet, except for the screaming of a horse in the distance. She ran out, expecting to find the worst.

She finds that a big branch had broken off a tree in the "no horse zone" between fields. There's a 10-foot empty strip between fields, so feuding horses can't reach across the fence and nip at each other. The fallen branch had taken down a chunk of both fences.

She found Aki galloping up and down the gap in the fences, trying to keep the horses in the two fields from "visiting" each other. He was making moves like a cutting horse, keeping the geldings in his field in the field, and even nipping at his favorite mares to chase them back into their field.

Marl said Aki let out a big sigh of relief when she got the fences put back up, and everything sorted out. She already knew that he wouldn't even walk through an open gate unless she at least put a piece of bailing twine over his neck and pretended it was a lead line. But she didn't know that he'd work himself into a frenzy defending his fences.
