The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Hehe, I've done the implementation side, so I know just enough to be really dangerous. However I'm good at debugging and QA...
My company sells what are basically really simple expert systems. Configurators. There's a serious market for that. For 'real' expert systems, you're right. Hafta be working for NASA or something.

It was weird. Very simple, very odd. I'd like to game but I don't have people to game with, and online gaming would be too addictive... we have three EQ addicts in this house, that's enough.I used to game when I was in middle/high school, but haven't had much time since then. Seeing LotR and playing Neverwinter Nights recently made me miss it, though. My brother and I are actually working on designing some games now.

That's cool!
I'd have to give up writing to game, and I can't do that... too much fun, tormenting my dearly-loved characters to (and occasionally right off) the brink of death...
Sigh. It's twisted enough to have crushes on fictional characters (mmm, Faramir...) but on your own fictional characters? That's kind of squicky!

And the reeeeally good dreams have Sean Astin or Clay Aiken in them. *blush*Hmmm--does that mean a dream with the AI guy is likely in the near future? :)

Not for me... nope, writing's worse.
Actually, anime's worse, because it's addictive and expensive. At least for writing, all I need is my brain... and my laptop... and Microsoft Word...
Anyway, good night! It's late. See everyone tomorrow.

I'd have to give up writing to game, and I can't do that... too much fun, tormenting my dearly-loved characters to (and occasionally right off) the brink of death...I've managed to combine my gaming and writing recently. It's hard to explain, but I use my writing to generate the setting for the game, then use the game to generate plots. Hopefully I'll be able to come up with some marketable games that way. Sigh. It's twisted enough to have crushes on fictional characters (mmm, Faramir...) but on your own fictional characters? That's kind of squicky!
Believe it or not, from people I've talked to, it happens pretty often among writers. I guess that makes sense if a character represents the writer's romantic ideals.

That show was VEY interesting!
I'll have to check it out next week. Hopefully I'll have time like I did tonight to chat-view it with ya again. :-)
