The Hobbit Hole VI - And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

Posted on 01/31/2004 9:52:08 AM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And Whither Then? I Cannot Say...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I am leaving now. I have my cell phone. Am running all the way to Grapevine first to pick up something at Bass Pro Shop.... We said meet between 2 and 3, that is a long range in time. If somebody gets there and I'm not there please call my cell phone.

Will freepmail cell phone number.

If I get to the east side of Ft. Worth and haven't heard from anyone I am going to also run by a scooter shop owned by a friend who builds race bikes. However, that is optional. So, give me a call from location if somebody's there before me.. hope that makes sense... I'm hurrying.

Hello all! - Pinging everyone on my hobbit list because I certainly don't want to forget anyone who sent $$$ and kind wishes! I wanted to let you all know that ecurbh and I have been saving the money that you all gave at our Entmoot surprise shower! We have had it all this time in a little box we brought back with us.

It was a lot of money and we wanted to decide what would really be the right thing to buy with it. Spending it on things like fencing and new gates didn't really seem like the kind of thing that would give you all a warm fuzzy feeling.

Well.... I am going to buy my wedding dress with it. It is enough to buy the simple Nani Hawaiian Wedding Dress that I still like the best after all the looking. All the fancy-schmancy dresses in bridal magazines would be so uncomfortable to wear on the beach. This one I can wear, and I can sit down or go to the bathroom without a team of attendants, which I think will make for a better day!

We really appreciate the thought you all put in to that shower for us! - And since money is really tight, it is very helpful to have your gift to help us out!

Again.....

Thank you very much!

We really love you all!

mstar.... I want to write a special note because you wrote a check instead of cash, I apologize for sitting on it this long. I know realize doing that can make it a pickle for you to balance your checkbook. I wanted to make sure it is still OK to deposit it.

That's awesome! Great use of those funds!

Snow tubing was great, we went with a church group and the pastor gave us a little devotion first about reminding us whose fault the Crucifiction really is... some of us are going to see The Passion this afternoon...

Are you going today then?

I was shocked at how many here didn't know what snow tubing was! Have they not ever even watched ~movies~ of childhood in snow country? ;~D

We used to go buy big inner tubes at the tire store.

Yes, we're leaving in five minutes. Showing's in an hour and we need to get there early.

This graduate offer looks like what I expected, twenty hours a week work in exchange for a nice little stipend and free tuition. Good. If nobody else wants me, I can go to Colorado, at least.

I finally had some spare time today, so I put the secant gauge on my .308 Remington. The dovetail was a little small, so I needed some needle files to open it up a bit to fit the rails. Made me feel like a gunsmith. Here's the final results, plus an overall view of my squirrel gun.

Nice work :) Looks handy--we've only got one squirrel in our backyard, but we've got a whole flock of turkeys :)

Snow tubing is sliding down a big, snow-covered hill in a rubber ring, like a whitewater rafts. Lots of fun!

Did that a few times when I was little :) Sledding and tobogganing are also fun.

I know! It's a bummer that it's leaving before you got a chance to come up here! :( There's always a chance they might bring it back after their film festival next week. I'll let you know if they do. You would not believe the sound system...when the Witch King makes his appearance at Minas Morgul, it feels like the whole building is shaking!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been wondering if I will be able to sit through it, but I'm more encouraged as I read everyone's experiences in seeing it.

I am very hopeful about the impact this film may have on the whole country.
