Dave Matthews Rips Bush Apart In New Rolling Stone: "I Can Run The Country Better"
chatsite ^ | 1-2-04

Excerpt from Rolling Stone Magazine:

Dave Matthews:

"I'd drink with George W. just to get him out of the White House.

Rolling Stone: Do you feel like an outsider in America?

Dave Matthews: A lot of people feel like outsiders, and we are viewed as outsiders by the government. Or as Un-American. I am way more American than George Bush and Dick Cheney. They have no fucking idea what it is to be American. They are fucking idiots who are programmed to everything in the hands of the few. They think it's right that them and theirs have everything and everyone else get by on good hard work. There is something charming about a simple man in the White House. But that's what is deceiving: He's not a simple man.

He represents the tiniest, tiniest percentage. He got here on the shoulders of giants. I think the Christian world feels an obligation to support him, because he claims to be a Christian. I don't see much of a Christian in him. I think there should be a long line of nuns ready to smack the crap out of him.

Rolling Stone: Do you think you are more capable of running the country than George W ?

Dave Matthews: Yeah, I'd deal with things more delicately.I think I have a much clearer view of the world than he does.

Rolling Stone: How So?

Dave Matthews: I understand people a lot better than he does. And I don't want the job- but there is no shortage of people who can run the country better than him. The most important task in America right now is getting this Administration out of power. I think they are a very dangerous bunch, riddled with dangerous minds. There's a very ignorant view in the White House: a thoughtless, fundamendalist, scary view of how to better the world. I'm truly frightened of this Administration.

Rolling Stone: Do you plan on being more politically outspoken in 2004?

Dave Matthews: My focus is to take them out. Hearing myself say that is sort of depressing. I don't know yet who I want to endorse, but I want minds like Dennis Kucinich. I want variety. But we're sort of in this avalanche, and we have to stop falling before we can fix it. The Bush Administration has squandered everything...they don't have a fucking clue.

Wow, I had no idea he was such an idiot. Shut up and sing. Kucinich is a socialist. Not a Democrat. Zell Miller is a Democrat. It is pathetic that these losers that never read a book get their opinions printed by other losers that never read books.
Just another example of the failure of public education.

Look at the cover. What's this ad-rag got to say about Toby Keith? Probably makes him out to be some fruitcake out on the lunatic fringe.

This thread should be good.

I don't think so. If Matthews had emitted anything besides a mindless, pointless, fact-free rant, following it up by invoking the name Dennis Kucinich (a guy who couldn't run Cleveland much less the free world), there would be something to add besides a Bugs Bunnyesque "Ehhhh, SHADDAP!"

However, as it stands, he opened his mouth and proved who the clueless one is. The defense rests.

Any one who thinks Dennis The Menace will ever be elected President IS off his rocker. F*ck Dave Matthews, he has no idea what he's talking about. He should stick his nose to music.

Please shut up--please! I can't say shut up and sing because I don't really like your voice all that much. Isn't this bad mouthed nut from Africa anyway? I'm surprised he's not supporting Kerry--they've got equally foul mouths. He's just so angry. I betcha President Bush is quivering in his boots knowing Dave Matthews is out for his hiney. Sorry Dave, your whining voice has done nothing to make this world a better place--President Bush on the other hand has made a positive mark on this world that will last generations. Sounds like DM is a tad envious.

Because we have kids read this site, it would have been better to use fu**ing instead of spelling out the expletive. I usually do that for *ss and b*itch. Just my two cents for what it is worth.

Yes, yes it is. Awful, awful music. Hey, I have an idea - every song will have me playing an acoustic guitar and singing like a cross between a bad, breathy late night DJ and kermit the frog...

And some people are so into it, they think they're these rock n' roll rebels for liking dave matthews, when he's just a few steps away from lawrence welk in sleep-inducing abilities.

And that hat makes him look like an even bigger dork!

Rolling Stone is a basket case of a magazine. Their staff, composed largely of middle-aged angry ex-hippies, mostly male, think they're writing for hip young college students. But who's reading them? Only middle-aged angry ex-hippies, mostly male. Look at all the stories listed on the cover, and think about how many of those will resonate with anyone under 35, particularly at a time when Gen-Y/Z is growing more conservative by the day.

Then look at the classified ads in the back, and ask yourself, "Just how many 18-year-olds need Viagra and toupees?"

RS is a magazine for old people. Their musical tastes and their politics are reactionary, and their day in the sun is long passed.

In other words, it's the perfect bible for the latter-day Democratic Party.

Let this idiot run for president and the people can decide who they want, him or W. He might actually be able to defeat the nine dwarfs. If Robert Reich ran then it would be another dwarf. The more the merrier, heck, let Michael Jackson run and then it will be the more the fairier.

if him and his ilk had to work 10 hours a day, keep the lawn mowed, keep the kids fed, and the bills paid,

He thinks that people who do that, the people who actually make the world go 'round, are "a very dangerous bunch, riddled with dangerous minds. There's a very ignorant view ... a thoughtless, fundamendalist, scary view ..."

Try he is the most popular male artist of the last decade...easily.

I don't deny the guy's music is popular, but by what measurement are you placing him unquestionably in first place? Cobain hasn't even been dead ten years yet.

Did anyone note a single substantive policy in his complaints?

It's all invective with these toons on the left. "President Bush is an F'ing idiot" but they never tell us why they think that and they never enlighten us with their great ideas to save the world.

What's this ad-rag got to say about Toby Keith?

It says "One Angry American".

That's a hoot! Who in the world is angier than the infantile leftists. Rush always said they are most amusing when they are out of power, and man are they ever out of power now!

Matthews is about to find out that he's not as powerful as he thinks he is. The year ahead will be full of disappointment for him.

"Sensitive singer/songwriters" had little real political clout in their heyday in the 60's and 70s. Today with the dominant demographic -- boomers -- far less liable to care about an artist's opinion than they might have been back then, Matthews just becomes another know-nothing artist with a big mouth and boringly leftwing views. The shrillness of his rhetoric hurts him too.

His core audience may pay attention, but the voting rate among that audience is open to question.

I must admit, I like some of Dave Mathews music. But this mental midget is yet another illustration of the typical auspices of ignorance. He lives under the cloak of freedom for which he knows nothing of. At the same time, attempting to insult the very one who provides such.
I'll bet my bottom dollar this fool actually thinks Clinton provided security; when in actuality, PRESIDENT Bush is doing clean up on isle (take your pick) for former president clinton's short comings.

In a nutshell, there is no pleasing the left. Do the right thing, your satan walking the Earth. Do the wrong thing, they'll spin it first to cover their own tracks (of doing the very same wrong thing), then blame you for doing wrong.

President Bush (and even homeland security) made this a very happy time for us..Not once, ONCE, did I worry about "terrorist threats" or nut balls in general. Quite a pleasing season, all things considered.
