Hi, Neets! We are spending a quiet evening at home this year. I am looking forward to NO entertaining. My husband is going downtown to the Kosher deli to buy corned beef for tomorrow (saving me some work, plus their corned beef is heads and shoulders above anything I can buy from the grocery and cook).
We have cabbage and kraut for tomorrow, plus BLACK-EYED PEAS (thanks, Toby, for reminding me!).

Nothing planned lysie.
Welcome home Dolly, have a great time tonite.
NY, hope girlchild recovers nicely.
Corned beef sounds great Jane. I just started a pot of Navy Bean Soup for tonite.

E.D. is E.D. Hill, the female on Fox & Friends. She is part of the morning team on FNC.
A fine looking family. Jayce is a real cutie,, Summer, too.

ED is foolish for taking Ephedra while pregnant. She's hypothroid, like I am, and doctors would prescribe Synthroid which has a gazillion different dosages, so if one didn't work, the doctor would upp the dosage and they would finally find one that worked for her.

Morning Nita!
Daughter Carolyn is resting comfortably on the couch. (The bedroom upstairs would have been too much of a climb.)
She's in good spirits, but has some medication if she gets too uncomfortable.

Thanks!
Lackland has undergone some changes, but overall looks pretty much the way it did in the 70's!
It was almost like stepping into a time warp when we went to her dormitory for open house after graduation. Those dorms haven't changed at all. I guess if it ain't broke...don't fix it!
I haven't seen The Return of the King.....yet, but I am looking forward to seeing it. I hear it's really good! As a looooonnnnngggg time Tolkien fan, I have to admit being apprehensive when I heard they were making LOTR into a series of movies, fearing they would take too many liberties. But I have been very impressed and pleased with how Peter Jackson handled taking Tolkien's work from the books to the big screen.

One of my New Years resolutions this year is to get back to writing a book on Porch Parties. Its called "The Porch Party - Swinging from Left to Right" all about the political discussions in the neighborhood. We have greens, democrats, some moderate pubbies, and us (Charter members of the VRWC!).
We have had some very interesting discussions over the years, some strenuous arguments, and some great laughs. One of my neighbors (who has subsequently moved) writes for the St. Pete Times (Mary Jo Malone -- a super lib). She wrote two articles about us; one about how I meticulously went out every morning to make sure my Bush/Cheney sign was correctly propped up during the election of 2000 and the seeminlgy never ending recounts; and one about how she thought she had moved into a nice quiet neighborhood only to be disturbed by her neighbor who blasted Rush Limbaugh on the radio while gardening in the front yard!
The stories abound, but putting them on paper in an organized and readable fashion is quite a challenge.
I'm off to work, where I'm behind a firewall, so I won't be posting, but will be lurking.

Thanks!
If I could figure out how to post pictures of her graduation from a CD, I'd do it, but I haven't figured that out yet. (I guess I should get around to setting up my own home page one of these days!!)

Just for the record: 2003 has not been the greatest year in my life. I am going to spend so time recounting my blessings in a minute or three, but to end the year, I did something really stupid and I am in a bit of pain right now.

So glad to hear things haven't changed much at Lackland. There are some things that will stick with me forever from that place... The nighthawks at night, while posting duty, and a certain feel in the air.
In regards to LOTR...I think you will be pleased with the last one. I thought it the best of the three. (Although you can't beat the first one for all its visual affects, and absolute surprise.)
