We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Fox News is reporting that under the new flight restrictions put in place Monday to prevent a possible Al Qaeda attack, foreign airlines may be denied access to American airspace if they refuse to place armed marshals on flights.

I seldom think about the 'beauty' of an airport. You've given me something to think about.
Glad you've been reunited with your own Lazy Boy and Heating Pad! ;~)

Last time the Iowa caususes were held, C-SPAN showed 2 or 3 of them. I hope we get to watch them this time, because you know those Deanie-Weenies are going to make a fuss...especially if their guy doesn't win one. HA!

GOOD A.M. TO ONE AND ALL FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA!!!!
The new year is knocking at out doors and what ever you do, EAT THOSE BLACK EYED PEAS ON THE FIRST! If you don't want to eat the ones that take some time to fix get at least one can and indulge, you will never regret it cause luck will come your way.
2004, I was born in 1936 and over the years I have seen so many things come about, the TV for one. I can remember sitting in front of the radio as the kids sit in front of a TV today and my favorite show? The Lone Ranger then Superman, oh those days. But hen I get to thinking, here I am sitting in the USA by design by our God, I could have been born in Iraq, Iran, North Korea but wasn't, here I am in Long Beach, Mississippi with a icebox full of food, a nice car to drive, a roof over my head. I see those poor folks in Bam, Iraq having to dig their children, mother of daddy, their MawMaw of PawPaw from the rubble and I look at my children and Gd and give thanks to my God above for who I am and where I am. We all have so much to give thanks for, even the poorest of the poor in our nation is so much richer than most of the folks in the third world.
If you have gotten something done in your life you have sered to do you can take it off of the list of things to do. Something to think about.
What are YOU going to do new years night? Me, not much but sleep, I go to bed early and the 1st will be just another day to me. Regardless, enjoy it to the fullest.
Prayers for the families in Bam, Iraq, for OUR President W and the troops. As always, prayers for the elderly who I might add have seen more New Years days than you have. Have a good day. Toby

I see where your state is having the same problem we are in Mississippi in retaining teachers, it made the news here. I can remember when teachers taught kids because it was their calling to do so, now it is the paycheck.

I always miss the CSpan coverage of the Caucui because I'm attending myself, then hop in the car and hit the road for my next day's appointments. Unless Michael Reagan covers it, I miss it.
I've always wondered if they cover a small rural meeting or if they stick to the urban meetings. I think you would enjoy observing a rural Republican caucus when we discuss platform issues.
A topic is introduced, a discussion follows and then someone drafts a statement regarding the topic. The statement is amended and amended until it suits everybody. It's all done quite informally,,, just a bunch of farmers coming to consensus.
The State Party sends a list of possible topics, with supporting statements. Some of the topics are approved as sent, other topics are removed entirely.
There was an 8 year span when my husband and a friend of his always submitted a resolution which would have require the state of Iowa to privatize K-12 education. They wanted to bid it out to IBM or other bidders. LOL They finally gave up. The resolution seldom got consideration past the County level.

The teachers union is Iowa is very powerful. Even some Republicans listen to them.
One of the most serious problems we have in Iowa is the Teacher's Union negotiating all the money for experienced teachers leaving nothing for beginning teachers. Then they complain because there isn't money for Aids and support staff. Go figure.

Good Morning from the N OR coast where it is 27 degrees! The holidays are almost over and now I have one more hurdle. 3 January would have been our wedding anniversary. Our children, friends and prayers are seeing me through. And, my volunteer hours at the Care Center and Clinic are saving my sanity. I wish you all a Happy New Year!
Miss M.....wasn't that guy on the other site a JERK?!??

I loved the Christmas Tree in the lobby. My daughter remarked how she wouldn't want to count all the lights on that tree.
It was also fun to see an Armadillo, and peacocks, pelicans, and herons all about the grounds of Disney.
If you get over to Epcot in the near future, you must stop by the Rose and Crown (England section of Epcot) to see the piano player, Tammy. She is a doll, and her husband is the spitting image of Bing Crosby.
My wife and eldest daughter are over at our local hospital at the moment. Daughter Carolyn is having surgery this morning to remove her gall bladder. (Yes... youngest daughter went through the same procedure last April.) Once I get my son on his way (with a friend and dad to Lambeau Field) and my youngest situated, I will head over to the hospital.

Good morning! I've purchased all the ingredients for the black eyed pea salad I make on New Years (Hid the chips so they don't get eaten before then!) I like black eyed peas...my mom served them on occasion. When my daughter was little I used to tease her and ask her if she gave those peas black eyes. She was a little confused at the joke at first....oh well!
We are truly blessed and I believe I'll try to get my family thinking about those blessings in addition to their resolutions this year.
We won't be doing much of anything New Years Eve. Daughter going to a party at a local friends house---whew, I was afraid she'd want to doing something grandiose like go into the city. Mr. Prairie doesn't like big crowds, maybe we'll go out to dinner. I may or may not stay up to see the New Year in. It's of no great shakes to me either way.
I'll be getting ready to go out of town for a week -- many end of year tasks and chores to take care of before we go.

Good Morning All. I'll be gone a good portion of the day. I'm going to Waco and pick up some things, like black eyed peas, cabbage and the like. Tomorrow we're going over to friends house for tamales then home. Roomey will snore in the new year. We're not big on that stuff, did it all when we were full of vim, vigor and vitality. Oh those days, we did ring in the new year with gusto.
Take care all, I'll check in later.
Glad you're home with your own bed, chair and heating pad Guenie. I agree, Texas is a great place to live. It's 40 degrees this AM it will be 60 later. How is it down your way kassie?

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and your New Year's is one of the best!
Dad was down for Christmas and brought a friend. She's a real doll and everyone really likes her. Dad got sick again, we think he has walking pneumonia this time despite going to and taking the prescribed drugs after Thanksgiving. He is home and resting now. Prayers are most welcomed since we are all pretty sick of this hot and cold weather and the lingerly effects of it. Cough, cough!
Mr HOB and I are celebrating the New Year at our minister's home with other couples from church. This will be a first for us and I can't wait to see what kinds of celebratiang we do after dinner! I know we will play cards and such....
Yesterday Mr HOB and I were finishing up my Dad's Christmas shopping and some of ours in a store when we saw a woman with a basket full of stuffed toys; bears and dogs and snowmen and kittens and, oh everthing imaginable. At the check-out, we asked her what she was doing with them and she told us she and her "fiance" had a great Christmas at the home and others didn't receive anything at all. Her fiance and she decided to buy a gift for everyone there, so she was buying all of the stuffed animals and such that were on sale. She had two large carts full to the brims! Isn't that just a wonderful story? Think of the delight of those shut-ins!
Happy Holidays to all!

Sooooooooo,,, the shopper's fiance lives at 'the home'. My imagination is getting away from me..
Wondering if it was 'the Old People's Home',, a half way house,, just what kind of 'home'.
Sorry, my mind is idle this morning, and that's dangerous.

I find it hard to believe this is the last stop on his road to Hell. If Maryland or the Feds can't put this maniac on deathrow, maybe the folks in Baton Rouge can.

My father was upset with the verdict. Even though it seems rather barbaric, Dad wants him to be executed. I explained that he may still get the death penalty in another state. I don't think he'll last in jail...
To: Iowa Granny
I know. She seemed too independent and spry to be a resident. Maybe they are both caregivers?....Anyway, I thought the giving was very sweet.

Hi HOB, hope you all had a great Christmas.
