I see where your state is having the same problem we are in Mississippi in retaining teachers, it made the news here. I can remember when teachers taught kids because it was their calling to do so, now it is the paycheck.

The teachers union is Iowa is very powerful. Even some Republicans listen to them.
One of the most serious problems we have in Iowa is the Teacher's Union negotiating all the money for experienced teachers leaving nothing for beginning teachers. Then they complain because there isn't money for Aids and support staff. Go figure.
