How lovely! Are the "Flinx" books any good? I've seen them, but not read them.

My little brothers got a PS2. Mom never let me have anything that cool... they're playing Lord of the Rings on it now.

Now it's that long Christmas afternoon time, between presents and dinner, when everyone has new toys, and everyone starts getting on everyone elses' nerves... we're actually not that bad, though...

I couldn't say, I haven't read them myself. Rose is a big fan of A.D.F. though, and she likes that series a lot.

Back when I lived with my parents, this would be the time when they'd be getting ready to go to my Grandmother's house and I'd be delaying as long as I could so I could play with my new toys. Never had much fun at Grandma's house... too many people (usually 30-50 crammed into a not-very-large house) and no toys to play with!

LOL!! You sound just like David. We've never heard the end of it that we let Clare and Joseph buy themselves a Dreamcast, then later a GameCube and GameBoys. We had a Nintendo for about 6 mths when David was in 3rd grade, but he played so much, and he and Paul fought over it so much that we got rid of it and made them do computer games and stuff. Well, it got him where he is today, so he can't complain, though he still does. I told Clare to give him her old Gameboy Color so he'd stop complaining, but he says they already have several in the house he rents with about 6 other students, plus they have PS2 and GameCube! He ain't hurtin for entertainment!

I love Alan Dean Foster; I wanna be him when I grow up. <grin>

I've just finished Flinx's Folly, my Christmas gift (thank you again, my-Bear!) and will start the Heinlein novel probably tomorrow.

If you want a taste of Flinx, start with For Love Of Mother-Not. But Foster writes all sorts of other stuff, some of it in the same Commonwealth universe Flinx lives in. If you like short stories, I recommend his With Friends Like These ... and the companion ... Who Needs Enemies? collections.
