Good Morning... now I wish I'd stuck with more of the show, but I just couldn't take it. Sounds like a cute line.

300: In re the radios... that sounds like a great thing. I've used the ones that Motorola makes, and also ICOM. Both are very high quality. They have several channels. Only problem is they are kinda spendy, like over $100/pair. That cuts down how many sets we can send.

I also wonder how the command reacts to them? Not much in the way of security there. No encryption or such. Though, I guess unsecure comms are better than no comms at all.

Only reason I could take that show last night was I was sick and couldn't move from the chair... willpower of a slug. It was really, really bad.

G'mornin!

*sip*

My handheld HAM radio is an ICOM. I like it a lot. Bought it used the week I got my license and it's been a great radio. They make good stuff.

Officially, the Army says non-milspec radios are forbidden. But after seeing a colonel interviewed in Afghanistan with a blue Motorola GMRS clipped to his body armor, I figure if he ain't worrying, neither am I.

The troops already spent their own money for Audiovox junk. I know we're looking at about $50 each, but we have our great deal-making talents, and generous hearts. As soon as Steve gets back to me about the numbers needed, we'll have a better idea of the magnitude of the task.

We can make life miserable for Audiovox later, after the crisis is over. It would be great if we could get national coverage for this. Maybe Motorola could give us some hints, since they wind up looking like the good guys in this story.
