My handheld HAM radio is an ICOM. I like it a lot. Bought it used the week I got my license and it's been a great radio. They make good stuff.

Yah... Icom is top notch. They made our handhelds for boarding ops in the CG. Really took a beating.
I wonder if they or Motorola make a digital model... that would be more secure than one that's totally in the clear.

I bought is used in 1989, it was several years old then. I still have it, and it still works. It does need a new lithium cell, but otherwise is great.
