I just got back ten more HHD knives from the engraver. Interestingly enough, now that I'm working the helpdesk phones, rather than roaming through the hospital, I learned that the guy in the demi-cube next to me is in the Air Force Reserve. He's a medic, and has to attend a six-day refresher course in January.
We got to talking, and he admitted that seven guys from his outfit will be called to active duty. He said he wasn't going to volunteer, but if ordered, he'd go.
This looks like the first time I can just hand someone a HHD knife, rather than mail it. It's going to be a unique experience for me, if not for him.
Finally got a decent picture of the Gracie mare & me at the Hunt last Saturday (this is before we both fell down and got grass in our braids and mud on our good coat).
She's standing funny, but isn't she cute?
Yes I did!!! That was a surprise to me!!! Also, the theater where we were gave away small posters to everyone who bought a refillable popcorn for the duration of the film! That was nice. There was also a drawing for more posters and theater tickets but we didn't win any of those, still it was nice that the theater did all that!
Oh yeah, and my butt didn't even notice that it had been in a theatre for 12 hours....
I didn't notice either!!! And the woman who went with me has been giving me a tough time about how I prolly couldn't handle it at my age. (She's 10 years younger than me) She was miserable by the end of FOTR!!! I never noticed!!!
It was definitely worth my day skipping work to go up there!!! I loved my day!
That was another nice thing about the theater where we were. It was near the food court at the mall and they allowed people to bring in any of the food from there.
LOL! Not secret, but yes, safe! Thanks for asking! Took me twice as long as usual to get home, but it was mostly just slushy at this point. Plus now that it's warming up, all that snow that we got earlier this week is melting a bit and there are HUGH puddles in some places.
It's still raining cold rain. My siblings wanna get in line two and a half hours earlier in hopes of getting under the overhang thingie outside the theater. I'm betting the hardcore geeks already have it staked out...gonna drive by in a few minutes on my way to my brother's apartment, so I can check.
YEAH!!! I was wondering that too!!!
I want to thank you for the support you showed my son as he prepares to deploy to Iraq. It's an amazing thing that this Hobbit Hole would care enough to offer up a prayer for an unknown person, my son.
But you did more that that. You also sent him a boot knife of sterling quality. It set someone back some serious money. And I understand you do this for lots of deploying troops.....and more.
This is the list that I saw posted elsewhere about the DOINGS of the Hobbit Hole.
the Hobbit Hole has generated friendships and relationships
the Hobbit Hole has Arminians and Calvinists and Catholics and Jews and Agnostics that still manage to respect each other
the Hobbit Hole has a continual list of prayer concerns and has actually seen the results of that prayer. Healing, job situations, relationships, finances.
the Hobbit Hole has a steady list of men and women in uniform that it prays for on a daily basis. (Including xzins' son.)
the Hobbit Hole that has spent thousands of dollars sending care packages to Afghanistan and Iraq... To men and women we've never met..
the Hobbit Hole that turns away no person in uniform? ... dropped $50 earlier this week for a care package for a soldier who is the friend of the son of a FReeper who is a friend of a member of The Hobbit Hole
Jim/John Rob,
I mention this just to be another of those who have probably pinged you about the treasure you have here at the Hobbit Hole.
And I'm a very infrequent visitor here. They owe me nothing. They certainly owe my son nothing.
There's only one answer.
Patriots.
God Bless America!

I absolutely LOVE the last hour.
Me too!!!! And that last few minutes.... I was just out of control!
You are SO much more compassionate than I am!!!
