Saying "no" wasn't an option? There was no question asked. It was, we need a project manager and you are the most qualified person at the college so we need to get started today.
Unfortunately, I am under contract here still until August 31.... well after this FREAKIN' MAY DEADLINE!!!

Quite frankly I usually don't hang out in this part of FReeper World. I usually am in the News/Activism section discussing politics and such. Sometimes I'm in the Religion section or Campaign Central. So when I come here I see few threads except this one with a million posts in it. So it seems strange, that's all.

CONGRATULATIONS on being awarded this project! Don't even have time to go retrieve the appropriately violent gif to go with that! Just trying to catch up on posts and ponder this before starting to write the steenkin' draft I'll have to send out to those [insert choice word here] media firms before the mail goes out today.
Why don't you and ecurbh come down here and do this. It's be worth THREE flippin thousand dollars to ya for 4 months work! yeah, right.

I am in hell because my supervisors are clueless on numerous things. Today, it is particularly what the job of an engineering designer is trained to do.

Well, welcome here today anyway. You got me on one of my worst days! Pull up a chair, have a pint, relax. We're mostly friendly... except for the occasional work rant.

Actually, you know, GigaDittos has a good point; finding an actual media company to work with that budget is most likely going to be impossible.
Soooo... either resign yourself to failure, or look for some other options. Such as: are there any students with animation and/or video experience (camera work, photography, etc.) who would be willing to work on this for the experience, or for extra credit? That would be one way of limiting the cost and staying under budget...

Check your official job description and you find a phrase in 3 point font that says "and other duties as assigned". What this does is change your job desciption into one that should simply read "Do what you're told". Know what I mean?

Thank you. I'll be needing 2 please. One for the dean. One for the associate.
Oh! I forgot to mention that I have strict orders not to involve the director of marketing for the college. And when I asked about it all I got was both the deans looking at one another saying, "no, we don't want to involve her."
I haven't a clue. I'm thinkin' it must be one of them wimmin-who-can't-play-nice-together-at-work things.
Or a plan to have a good reason to fire me.
It's one or the other. The second reason sounds more convenient for me right now.

"Does anyone know where the love of God goes/When the waves turn the minutes to hours?" still moves me closer to tears.Me too, Rose!! Are you familiar with the music of another Canadian, the late Stan Rogers? He wrote and sang a song very similar to this one called "White Squall".
To: SuziQ
I like a lot of his music. "Northwest Passage", for one.

Tonight I'm going to see Rory Block in concert.I just LOVE Rory Block!! We've seen her twice; once at the Cherry Tree Club in Philly, and once in Worcester at the John Henry Hammer Coffeehouse. She's VEY good, and I think a much better blues singer (for a white girl) than even Bonnie Raitt! ;o)

Interestingly I just got my hands tied on having students work on official college work this month. In the past we had allowed students to gain classroom credit by producing the drawings necesary for the welding, machining, HVAC, electronics, computer maintenance and aviation maintenance classes. As of my arrival back at campus this week that is no longer allowed.
And I wholeheartedly agree! I can't imagine a local firm doing anything close to what they're asking for such a pittance!
I've got an outline of what's needed. I'm waiting for an email from the associate dean on 3 companies she wants me to approach about this and then I will contact them with the full written proposal of what the deans want. This is all gonna be kept in writing! The old fashioned way - on PAPER!!! I ain't *really* blonde you now!

Yes, my director and I had that same discussion immediately after the deans left. while taking part in an illegal activity in the weld shop. .... because it's too freakin' cold outside to go out and have a cigarette!

In any case, she certainly plays an older, more acoustic form of blues than Bonnie Raitt. I think I'll enjoy this.
Just hope they don't have the volume up too high. I HATE that. But the guy that does sound for the theater here is pretty good, usually.

I'm in and out.
I'm mowing the lawn today, it's been about 2 months since it last saw a mower. I don't like my neighbors to get too cranky.
I got a call today from the Library of Congress Copyright office and I have a phone interview scheduled for 2/11 at 10:00am.
I'm wondering if a move is in my future.....
