The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

My brother's school is cancelled, second day running. Poor Mom, the boys are being really wild this week and she can't even send them outside because of the ice.

I didn't think he could act till I saw that movie.

I was impressed when I saw him in Twelve Monkeys

Yep...yesterday was pretty hard for them, they were really stir crazy. But we couldn't do anything!

So, this is for the best, get at least one out of the house!

I like "A River Runs Through It".

OK, so it doesn't have a normal kinda plot or ending...I don't care!

Besides, the scenery is right purty.

Don't like Brad Pitt in many other movies, though. But that goes for many actors...I watch them for the story, not for the actor. There are very few exceptions to that rule...

"Hello OT, how are you doing?"
"Oh, not bad...still iced in."
"Are you at least keeping warm?"
"Yes, can't complain." "Well...I'm off to FReep other topics."
"Talk to ya later, then."

For me, it is warmer! It was 25 already when I went past the bank on the way to work. So of course it'll get above freezing, melt stuff, and then drop again.

It's confusing to me too. It's only started happening in the last couple of weeks, and maybe even only on the files that are linked here. I dunno.

I'll look at it again tonite.

Should have gotten supporting actor, at least.

Surprising that there were no actors nominated, but it was also really hard to find a standount. They were all very good. Surprising, but awesome still!

Here's the latest on the radio situation from Steve, the guy closest to the problem.

As of last night the last few audiovox radios drew their last breath. We are now down to 5 Motorolas. We are using the Motorola T5720 and T5920. They both offer a 5 mile range and far outreach the Audiovox claim of 7 miles. We can get by with as few as ten radios total. We dont need rechargeables. The motorolas will run of AA batteries which we have thousands of. The Motorola I have I found in a mud puddle, and it works great. I dont want you guys to feel like you have to do this for us. The Government should be taking care of us, but you know how that is. We really appreciate all the support you guys provide. Maybe you could contact Motorola and see what they can do. Before we left the country one soldier contacted Cobra and they donated I think 30 CB radios to us. We put them in our trucks and they help out a lot. We use the Talk Abouts in trucks with no CB, and when we have to get out of the truck for anything. Again, Thanks for everything. Steve

It sounds like AA batteries are no problem for them. I'll buy three pair of Motorolas online, since I doubt I can find the FRS versions easily around here. Then again, maybe Costco might have them.

I know there's the sore subject that they're unsecure. But it looks like their commanders have decided that unsecure CBs and GMRSs still give them a better chance of survival than no radios at all.

I get the uneasy feeling that there's a warehouse in Kuwait with 50,000 radios, but nobody knows they're there. And if they did know, there's no paperwork to authorize their release. I still remember the last scene in "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

So...you may be stuck for a bit.

Hope Kitty's OK!

Did I mention I'm glad it's just cold here?

Warmed up to -7 here...

Don't think we need to worry about melting stuff yet.

I just got an email from someone I don't know, subject line "Hello" and an attachment that said something about "The attachment has a binary code" and something or other. I deleted it without opening it...

There was a zipped file attached. That's all I know, I didn't open it.

For some reason, my McAfee wasn't on!

I can't figure the program out...I never know when it's running or not...it is when I check sometimes and not when I check sometimes.
