The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

...unsecure communications can make for some interesting sport

ohmygoodness!!! Do I have stories I wish I could tell regarding that! Unfortunately, I am bound my oath to never reveal that kind of stuff for another 90 years.

Okay, I could download it to my desktop and play it. But even after going thru those steps and removing Real Player, can't click on the link.

Now I just get a blank page with a RedX.

Can't I resest IE to play it?

The Marine replied, "God was busy; He sent me."

ROTFL!! Well, didn't Jesus say we'd have to be His Hands when He was gone?

The lesbians have co-opted "We Are Family?" Too bad! But, you know, the first group to use the song as a theme were the Pittsburg Pirates, during their World Series run in 1979.

If you get the lesbian thing out of your mind, it's a really cool song.

In memory of Wilver Dornell Stargell, aka "Pops":

We Are Family
Sister Sledge

We are family!
I got all my sisters with me!
We are family!
Get up ev'rybody and sing!

Ev'ryone can see we're together
As we walk on by.
(FLY!)
And we fly just like birds of a feather ---
I won't tell no lie!
(ALL!)
All of the people around us they say
"Can they be that close?"
Just let me state for the record,
We're giving love in a family dose!

We are family!
I got all my sisters with me!
We are family!
Get up ev'rybody and sing!

We are family!
I got all my sisters with me!
We are family!
Get up ev'rybody and sing!

Living life is fun and we've just begun
To get our share of the world's delights!
(HIGH!)
High hopes we have for the future
And our goal's in sight!
(WE!)
No, we don't get depressed.
Here's what we call our golden rule ---
"Have faith in you and the things you do."
You won't go wrong
This is our family jewel!

My sister and girl cousins like to sing that when we get together. Of course, we only know the refrain! LOL!

Removing the user is ALWAYS hard!

Customer calls me today, says, "I know this computer has this specific problem. It's doing X, Y, and Z. No, I don't use the computer, but I don't have to --- Lazy E computers are a pile of crap, and they always do X, Y, and Z, and I wanted to buy HewPaq anyway. I've been in computers ten years, and I know what the problem is, so don't make me prove it, just send the parts."

I go all peeved-black-lady on him, made him troubleshoot. Customer puts me on speakerphone so he can crack the case and mutter under his breath at the same time. In the middle of his frustration, the end user rolls in to see if the computer is working yet. I introduce myself (cheeky me!), and ask the end user what the computer did. Turns out, the system was really doing A, B, and R. I had the idiot customer, who suddenly doesn't have an extra word to say to me, swap out a cable, and the problem went away. As I'm hanging up, I hear the original customer call me a "stupid b***h."

I cracked up.

Just another day in tech support heaven!

Now I just get a blank page with a RedX.

This is confusing me, I think you are setting IE to play it? You don't want to set IE to play it..... You want either Windows Media or Quicktime to play mp3s....

If you right click the file and choose "open with..." do you have either/both of those options?

Really! That's a good movie? I don't think I could like Fight Club.... Even with him in it.... I can't handle a lot of that kind of thing...

No, no! That's the wizardry of Fight Club. It's not about fighting!

Well, it is ... but the actual fisticuffs are soooooo tangential to the movie as a whole! Fighting is the frame, not the meat, of the flick!

The clerk and owner of our comic book store urged us to watch it. However, we didn't, (who wants to watch WWF for two hours?) until it came on cable one night when there was absolutely nothing else on the tube. We caught it near the beginning, but we were surfing the 'Net, and only watching with one ear and half an eye. But it pulled us in, and blew us away!

Oh, once you see it you will want to see it again!

Do you like The Usual Suspects?

The vehicle that Kevin Spacey rode to his first Oscar ... what a magnificent movie!

L. A. Confidential, Fight Club, and The Usual Suspects ... great movies. However, Fight Club has the best lines. You will never look at fancy soap the same way again. You will be grateful for clean porcelain sinks. You will be happy to have a solid roof over your head when it rains. You will always wonder about the "clean food" at a restaurant.

"Sticking feathers up your butt does not make you a chicken." <sideways glance at 2J and g'nad>

Tyler Durden: "OK: any historic figure."
Narrator: "I'd fight Gandhi."
Tyler Durden: "Good answer."
Narrator: "How about you?"
Tyler Durden: "Lincoln."
Narrator: "Lincoln?"
Tyler Durden: "Big guy, big reach. Skinny guys fight 'til they're burger."
