The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

He's back home. However, my cousin says he's still on active duty, and may be deployed again ... he was only in Qatar 6 weeks.

I mailed you a HHD knife today to give to him. I hope you can explain our group well enough that he doesn't think we're completely crazy. :)

Ham Shack is the term used for a Ham (Amateur) Radio station. In the old days, the equipment was so large it would often be located in a separate shed out back. New equipment is much smaller, but the name survives.

This is my latest radio, built about a year ago.

It's 8 inches square.

she's got cookie dough in the fridge

Clare decided the other day that she wanted Chocolate Chip Cookie dough. Not the cookies, just the dough. We decided to try it using Egg replacer rather than whole eggs so we'd avoid the salmonella thing. I showed her how to do it, and she did! It was pretty good dough! She got a cup-ful and I made cookies with the rest. They were pretty good! Now she knows how to do it, she can have cookie dough any time she wants!

The Troop Support pages and links that Ecurbh has definitely help with explanations.

thenurses in muh hometime and I were on a first-name basis... multiple fractures, lacerations, stitches, butterflies, splints, 10 surgeries... and lots of self aid...

When I was a really little kid I split my head open a lot. Seems I didn't develop that instinct to stick my arms out in a fall till later, when I started breakin' arms.

I can still remember the ~sound~ of the bones moving when the doctors re-set my arm after the horse fall. ~slide-grind-thunk~

That night my arm began to swell inside the cast. Now THAT was excruciating. Had to go back to ER and have them split the cast. Few days later they re-plastered it.

No suckin' chest wounds here either.

When I went to Mexico City, my friend --- who spent her first 18 years in Mexico City --- refused to translate for me. So I learned quickly. <grin>

"¿Como se dice?" (KO-mo say DEE-say) means "How do you say?" That, and a finger pointed at the thing in question, is helpful to you both --- you'll learn the Spanish word, he'll learn the English word, and you meet in the middle somewhere.

I'm calling them right now, as a matter of fact ... spoke briefly to Paul and conveyed our thanks. I'll try to talk to Dianne (my cousin) tonight and see what else is brewing.

LOL... I don't even worry about the egg thing. Cookies are another thing that I just don't care a thing in the world about eating. But, cookie dough! Now, that is another thing completely!!!

Mornin! I'm fixin to make some pancake and bacon for breakfast! We're still in the deep freeze and I don't think it's gonna get over 25 degrees all next week!

We had pancakes an bacon, too. They were good, but we were rushing like crazy.

Got a call late last night from the family whose daughter came down with Jim and Stephen to get us at the airport - she needed a ride down to Merrimack, NH, past Manchester.

So...that's where we've been all day. I survived. Did I mention I don't do well with traffic? Though at least it was daylight. I have no real depth perception, but during the day I can figure stuff out. At night I REALLY have trouble. I suppose everyone does, but...

In any case, we did it, we're back, and everyone left me all along. I wanted to watch a movie with some people tonight...actually I'd LIKE to see ROTK, but can't at home, of course, and I don't think it's in the theater anymore...plus I missed the start of the One Showing.

Enough whining? Oh...and I'm tired, too. And it's cold out. And I want a movie but I don't wanna go out there.
