The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I haven't broken anything, had stitches, surgery, or even hospitalization... of course I do have a lovely virus that attacts my eye at intervals, but on the whole I've gotten off light.

Glad to hear Junior's arm isn't broken.

Story about a woman I used to work for: she was standing on an office chair to change a light bulb, and fell. She naturally put her hand out to break her fall, and jammed her wrist. It was stiff and sore, but she thought it was just a sprain, so she waited a couple of days before taking it to the doctor. When it wasn't better after a couple of days, she went to her doctor to have it x-rayed; one look at the x-rays and he immediately admitted her to the hospital. Turns out the bones in her wrist had been jammed up into her forearm (which was why her wrist was stiff) and she needed major surgery on her arm to fix it.

So, Junior's arm coulda been worse. ;)

I've only had stitches once or twice that I recall... lots of cuts, but rarely big enough to require stitches.

My dog bit my nose once, but I deserved it. Still have the scar on the side of my nose. I think that may have got a stitch or two.

Oh, I've had surgery a couple of times, once when I was in high school and once a couple of years ago to remove my gallbladder. It's amazing how much energy the removal of even a minor organ can take out of a person.

Heh, yes, I recall my mother's many c-section recoveries. She'd be 'down' for weeks. Glad I haven't had to have any myself yet.

I had laproscopic surgery for my gallbladder... just four little holes, two in front and two on my side. It was about a week before my energy level started feeling normal, and about a month before it really was.

Indeed!

The only nurses I've been on a first name basis with were the ones I was related to. And... I kinda liked it that way. ;)

(lol...sorry I did not respond sooner...I had to run some errands and get a haircut.)

But...WOW! What an event! And, I complete understand what you're saying about the nurse...that must have been awful!

Unfortunately, my stories for my twice broken arm aren't as eventful.

Age 5) Tripped over a garden hose.

Age 10) Brother pushed me off the porch.
