Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

but she was living in the past, and the "home" she wanted was long gone. Yeah, Mama had lived at our family's Fish Camp even since Daddy died in 1981. My just older brother bought her house in Hattiesburg, and that was fine until she got sick. Then all she wanted to do was 'go home', which meant Hattiesburg. She couldn't do that, and it just irked her! She spent a lot of time packing suitcases because Bill ( my Daddy) was going to come pick her up and take her home. But by the time she had to go into the home, she was not even saying that. She knows she's not home, but it doesn't seem to bother her now. Thank God for that.

Sometimes, Rose, there isn't a good thing to be done but only the thing that must be done.I'm still telling myself that, Master Sea-man.
I thought I was okay about it until I ran into this guy I'd chased in high school; he knew my mother the way she'd been back then. He was horrified when I told him I'd put my mother in a nursing home, and for a while, I was very efficient at punishing myself for my lapse in daughterly duty. Turns out, I wasn't as okay about the whole thing as I'd thought. I had my reasons, and they were good, but ...
I take the whole thing out and re-examine it every now and then, and I wonder what she thought during her flashes of awareness. Only lately have I been able to truly see that I couldn't've taken any other course in regards to her care.
Needs must where the devil drives, you know?

I wasn't here either!

Well that's good!
You know, I fell asleep the first time I watched The Maltese Falcon, too. But now, it's one of my favorite movies.
I'm off to bed, good night!

After 25 years? dang! That is just wrong. He shouldn't have any trouble though. From what I have seen in my ongoing search is that schools want coaches and special ed., they don't need plain ole teachers right now.

You wanna hear something ironic? Grandpa, who has been in a nursing home for the past 20+ years, outlived my grandma (his wife), who passed away New Years Eve, 2002. Grandpa is a WWII vet, and still kickin', well not kicking exactly (he had a paralizing stroke in '82), but hangin in there at least. She has always been healthy as an ox. He has been in extremely poor health most of his life, and we never dreamed he would live longer than Grandma.
i'm still awake...

Only lately have I been able to truly see that I couldn't've taken any other course in regards to her care. I think all this re-examination must be a normal part of our recovery from the loss. I have spent much time in the last months second guessing decisions made over Grama's care. In the end all of us made the best decisions we knew to make at the time. That is all that can be expected I think. I am at peace with that..... even though I still think and over-analyze the things sometimes. *sigh*

Good morning!
Well...it's above zero. Not much, but that's somethin'. Temperature is going to drop in the next 24 hours, so I'll take what I can get!
Hopefully work goes well today. Yesterday was somewhat depressing...my boss was gone day before yesterday, when we were flat-out helping kids with password / login problems. I mean FLAT-OUT - there was a line at the door. Most of them it was a matter of figuring out what they were doing wrong, but it still took time.
Soo....yesterday my boss was BACK, and not at all happy with us for not getting to very many of the workorders. He said we didn't prioritize correctly. I think if he'd seen how many people were at the door, he wouldn't be so cranky, but there it is.
We closed a lot of workorders yesterday, though, so he may be in a better mood.
See ya at work...

Prayers from over here! When my dad had cancer they put him an a chemo pill which was first developed for breast cancer. It is called Xeloda. Check it out, maybe it may be of help.
