The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

I'm home from awanas. THe ladies in library were delighted with the still warm pumpkin bread. Together we ate almost the entire loaf! LOL

I love to just sit in the library...so calm and peaceful. The librarian says she considers us her ministry! (Celeste and I...both homeschooling moms...it's a nice break for us both).

Steve is in school.

Yes! FR does seem to me to be slow now that I am home. It didn't seem like it at work.... but then I was somewhat incoherent with the AutoCAD pro'lems starting up.

Mmmmm...pumpkin bread...

We talk about food an awful lot, don't we? ;-) Not that I mind in the least!

I'm drinking chamomile tea with ginger, which I don't think is a kosher combination, but I couldn't resist adding the ginger - I like it! But I'm barely awake.

Well the water heater was fixed. But when they fixed that, the hot water lines to the kitchen, bathroom sink, and the back shower slowed to a trickle... like they had knocked loose some corrosion and clogged the pipes. So they had to come back and fix that. Except for the shower off the master bedroom... too much involved in fixing that, so we will make do with the one bathroom. Basically, the less time the unbearably irritating handy-man dude has to be here, the better. We think that is the landlord's plan to keep us off their back, heh.

Hey! I have missed you a lot too! Specially last week. I am glad that you and PurpleQ seem to have hit it off now. She is a doll!

BTW, her birthday is coming up. the 26th! We will have to remember it! (we may mean you the way I am right now)

FR was giving me fits earlier today. Seems like it is really getting hammered with traffic.

The 26th was my Mom's birthday, too.

Think it's an attack of some sort?

We were having traffic problems at work, so I was attributing it to that...but it's been even slower from here!

It's dog-slow for me. I may give up shortly. It's late enough, I guess...

I think I'm out of both chamomile and Tension Tamer...a disasterous situation!

I've got several of that Tazo tea...some of it is decaffienated. Think I'll have a bit too.

I used to make it with paprika mixed with the vinegar. Haven't made it in awhile though. Need to check my recipe.

Biting my tongue like this is really starting to hurt.

Awww. Poor baby.

Really, you are doing a wonderful job of keeping silent. I had to keep quiet about my brother actually getting married without our parents knowing for over a year! It was *not* easy!!!

The way it turned out it might have been better if I'd let it slip. My mom and dad hated the "girlfriend/wife" anyway. Believe me, that is totally unfounded. She has always been precious and good to Dave. But, the way they found out about the marriage was a bit of a shock to them. Mom and dad had gone to the deer lease the day after Christmas 15 months after the marriage. As us kids will do, we decided to crash at the parents house while they were out of town. Then, there was a really bad ice storm and they were stranded at the deer lease for a couple of extra days so we kept partying. Only thing was, stubborn as my dad is he decided to drive home before the roads were *really* safe. He found 'em in bed. LOL

At that point it seemed wise to tell about the marriage. Mom and dad disowned Dave for a couple of years. They occasionally treat Andrea decently now, after 25 years of marriage.

I need to get more Tension Tamer. I drank a bunch, and I think Bilbo finished off the rest last time he was here...

Some decaf green tea would be handy to have around, too. I have almost no decaf tea of any kind anymore! About three chamomile bags, and that's it.

No, not an attack, just high traffic.

Denial-of-service attacks are getting easier and easier to detect, subvert, and stop than ever before. It is *legitimate* traffic that, when it peaks, is what brings most sites to a crawl.

But then again, it might be traffic on some key internet hubs that causes delays getting to servers in some geographic areas. One guy with a backhoe and a couple of beers that digs up a fiber cable can bring whole segments of the Internet to a crawl.

Maybe just because of the SOTU address and the caucuses?

Hm.

I hope it's better tomorrow, in any case!

Oh dear! Sorry to hear about all the plumbing problems. And more sorry about the unbearably irritating handy-man. I've got this plumber here who is actually very pleasant to watch while he works. Myranda thinks it's funny that I think the plumber is eye candy! ;-)

You have some doozies when it comes to family stories, don't you?

But I can't imagine my parents acting like that anyway.
