The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Same here... one time I was changing flights at O'Hare and while standing in line at the Pizza-by-the-Slice place I found myself about three people behind Bart Starr. Decided to just let him enjoy his pizza in peace.

I doubt you could have gotten close to Walter anyway, he had a crowd of about 50 people around him.

Well, then there was the time at the GOP convention in San Diego. I rounded a corner in a hurry trying to get some equipment to one of our photographers. I was literally inches away from shoving Andy Rooney's ice cream cone up his nose.

That woulda been fun.

hehehe... yes, that would'a been fun on lots of levels.

One of my few other brushes with greatness: This very bar in which I sit was also once the favorite hangout of Gary Payton, when he played for the Sonics. He was here three or four times a week, until he got traded.

It was interesting, but none of the regulars here gave him much attention. I think that's why he liked it here.

I should add that his wife was here with him most evenings, and she was of some special caliber. Holysmokes.

We did warn you.

I mercifully fell asleep after Boromir fell. Missed a good chunk. But...Sam was apallingly bad. And Legolas...don't even get me started! The only characters who approached OK were Merry and Pippin.

Like Gandalf's spasmodic hands?
