Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Good morning!
I'm one of the lucky who have the day off, which of course means I've come down with a cold. But maybe it'll give me a chance to ditch it early on...
I'm soooo glad your visit went well, WN! Great pictures! So...who nicknamed the baby Buck? Was that nickname already in place, or?
Here's an interesting subject for the day...the local high school gives ONLY the black kids the day off - no one else. Way to teach equality, eh? We had a little discussion about that last night at home...

Looks like an Entmoot breakfast! *snif*
Have I mentioned that I miss the food?

Our efforts saved lives of our soldiers! I have tears again!Does that not just lay you low with humility? And make ya want to scrape up every knife we can to send 'em?
I'm fixinta leave Aunt Cheryl's house now and go visit another friend here. Her daugher is a marine and has just received orders to be deployed to Iraq. The daughter is here now visiting until she ships out. I am thinking I will be handing over a knife to her today. I will need another one. :-)

*Sigh*
So it's back to the old low-carb eating plan today
And the boss left a tin of wafer rolls on his desk with a sign that says "help yourself".

I LOVE kolaches!! My cousins' grandmother was Hungarian, and she used to make those at least once a year. It was an all day operation; she'd roll the dough out onto the kitchen table, and cut them all out. They were just yummy. The closest thing I've had to them since were, when SSQ was in grad school, the Hametashen that my Jewish friend, Nancy's, Gramma Gruber made. She knew how much I loved them, so when she sent them to Nancy for Purim, she'd send a couple dozen to me, too! ;o). I've found sefveral different recipes for them, but as yet, have not tried them out.

Well, that did it for me, Sis. I'm just bawling.
I've been talking to my friend Celeste, (do I need to explain who she is anymore?)
Andrew's brother's reserve unit is in Afghanistan. Our very own Oklahoma Army Reserve, that is literally just down the street from me...the 486th Civil Affairs Battalion. I drive by them all the time and now I actually know someone that's from the group.
Anyway, for some reason, it's got me all emotional this morning. I'm gonna try to at least get him a card out this afternoon.
This is their insignia...much of it is taken from the Oklahoma state flag...

But, it did sound like his knife saved his life at least one time and it saved the lives of several of our other soldiers! Of course I also teared up upon hearing this. Our efforts saved lives of our soldiers! I have tears again!Wow... What happened!?

dO THE white KIDS GET wASHINGTON'S b-DAY OFF?

Seems that Buck was the name that Tom wanted for the boy all along. Therefore, all the troops called him Buck during the pregnancy. Sean Patrick was agreed on cause Jill didn't like Buck. But, the name had already stuck in the US army. And *this* granny would rather side with the army. Jill seems to have acquiecsed to this moniker since Tom's return from Iraq as well so "Buck" he is! I like it. Buck suits the Texan woman here. :-) More manly.

I too would love to hear those stories of the knives. Vey cool.
To: HairOfTheDog
Not trying to keep ya'll in suspense but I've got a large ping list on my computer at home for all the project contributors and I want to get Tom's stories out to everyone!
For his part, it seems that a certain Iraqi did not fear his firearm, but feared the knife.
For many others, the knife saved lifes by being able to cut then out of crashed or bombed vehicles. I promise I will elaborate when I get my list.

I like Buck better too! Sounds more like a man's name huh? We need more manly men in the country. Fortunately we've got plenty of 'em in the Hobbit Hole. This elf does not mind at all having a dwarf for a grandson! :-)
