The Hobbit Hole V - Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...
ecurbh

Posted on 12/11/2003 2:07:57 PM PST by ecurbh

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Where Many Paths and Errands Meet...

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

Somebody still has Christmas decorations on their deck fercryinoutloud!

Glad to see you made it back safely. I'm so sorry I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to you on Wednesday!

That's something I noticed on our way back home from the train station on Thursday night; folks still had lights up from Christmas. It made me realize that there were almost NO Christmas decorations still up in FL! I saw a couple of wreaths here and there, but nothing else; not even on our trip home on the train! I guess it is just too cold here to go out and fool with the decorations. It will warm up in a few weeks!

Man... I miss everyone already.

Clare sure had a good time with you, Rosie, Margaret and Bill. She told me that y'all were talking about a New York moot, and when I mentioned that to 2J, she got excited about that! She said her Mom would be interested in coming along and would pay for her to come to NYC! That would be fun, wouldn't it?

Hmmm... NYC moot has some good points. We also discussed camping-moot, but the anime would be tricky.

Tell Clare that some of us had a very odd discussion last night of how, if they were translating LotR into Japanese, they would apply honorifics to the names... like "Aragorn-sama" and "Frodo-san" and such. Also that every time anyone said the word "van", some of us shrieked "Van-sama!"

And that OT ended up watching the last four episodes of Escaflowne with us and was not convinced of it's appeal. I think the Dilandu thing threw her off... Oh, and my sister emitted shrieks of joy when I told her we have a new anime to see!

I hope that hot bath eases your sore muscles, Jen!! Be sure to take an Advil before bed, or even better, a Tylenol PM! :-)

I've already watched my Entmoot video once since I've been home. I expect I'll watch it once more before I go to bed.

I am truly a very fortunate and blessed person to have such a wonderful group of friends. I'm really honored and thrilled to have met you all.

I'm just a little sore in the legs.

Not if someone had a camping trailer with electrical hookups! ;o)

Heh....I got some hobbit-sense half way there. Hobbitses shouldn't be clambering about with a camera in one hand and with leaving all insurance cards back in KC.

I only scored 37.x% on the geek quiz, and now I know why. They didn't ask enough questions about weapons. I scored low in geekiness in the games and reading material sections, but would have cleaned up if they included stuff about weapons.

And here's the latest example in weapons geek. I was thinking of somehow building my own, but was too lazy to get started. Now someone has invented a cosine gauge, which clamps to a Weaver mount. It lets you compute a change in elevation for a target far above or below the horizontal. It ain't cheap (another characteristic of weapons geekiness), but I'll keep you informed how it works, once I get it.

I just need to figure out how to keep both the spirit level (more geekiness), and this gauge in view without the two interfering.

(will the Sentinels appear in X3?)

I'm not a bettin' man, but if I were, I'd put $20 on yes.

There was also a folder named "Trask"...I'd assume that means Bolivar and Larry, the first creators of the Sentinels. There was also a folder named "ZeroTolerance", which, if I'm not mistaken, is the "sleeper Sentinel" project.
