Hmm..
What do you need for it to do, and what can you budget towards this?
(I can help give you ideas, or point you to where you can go to get parts and such. Unfortunately, I scratchbuilt my machine, and cannot walk people through the process.)

Bought my motherboard for only $104.
And 256 of DDR333 for only $49.
I already had a hard drive and a case.

I need my computer to be able to have an audio system so I can listen to whatever songs people post.

Also It has to have a printer and I was going to use my computer to write e-mails and goe on FreeRepublic more often than I'm doing now.

I'm also writing a novel and it would've been nice to do it on the computer. (These things I can't do on my computer at work or at any computer in public places like coffee shops and the library.

Of all the time to be without my PC, this is the worst as I wanted to follow the election. IMO the President HAS TO get re-elected.

I'm also tracing my family tree and was going on to Ancestry.Com for information and for research.

I'm right now in such a financial pickle that I just don't know when I'll be able to get out if it and I'm getting frustrated.

As I said, I pieced my system together piecemeal.
The motherboard is an ABIT NF7-s.
*chuckle*

I'm saving up for a faster processor at the moment, and prices are coming down.
Nice thing about my motherboard is that it can use the slower and cheaper Durons until I can grab an AthlonXP.
