Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that You have brought us to the thresh hold of another new year. We praise You that Your mercy has kept our beloved country in relative safety this past week ... our guardians and protectors and responders have been ever vigilant ... our military has been successful ... only You know what has been averted and diverted by these brave men and women. We thank You for each one, Gracious Father, and ask that Your hand of protection remain upon them during their times of service. Keep them vigilant and aware ... quick to defend and sure of purpose.

Heavenly Father, millions will gather to usher in a New Year ... we are apprehensive at the sheer numbers of people and the innumerable possibilities for deadly destruction. In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we rebuke any and all plans for the shedding of innocent blood, for the enemy cannot stand in the Presence of God Almighty. May the Holy Spirit of God reveal evil intent ... may it be exposed and destroyed, that no harm come to the citizens of the world. Continually stir up Your people to be before the Throne of Grace in defense of country and homeland, whether our own or those of the nations, for You desire that we live peaceably. Use this time of heightened alert to speak to the hearts of a people in need ... You are the foundation on which this country was built ... may we stand firm on this foundation in defense of freedom everywhere. May it be thus, in the Name of the Lord Jesus I pray, Amen ...
