Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

I'm sure I've missed somebody but I pinged everyone I saw on this thread. Please take a look at the story that Cindy posted here (it's the same one that is currently linked at Drudge). It goes into great detail about how the incident happened.

The pilot's wife is ready to kill him, and he feels like an idiot.

Excellent reporting bt Blomquist, Celona and Neuman of the NY Post -- they beat Newsday on facts, and it's in Newsday's back yard.

If you read the links I posted, they advised pilots like Mr Langone to fully familiarise themselves with the airspace (which is complicated) and the procedures before flying the Hudson corridor. Poor Langone was trying it for the first time, on impulse and unprepared.

It looks like everywhere that Langone flew, except for when he busted the LGA Class B (TCA, you stuck-in-the-past geezers [grin]) he was legal, including his ring around the Statue of Liberty. You don't have to talk to anyone to fly in the VFR corridor -- one reason it's there is so planes without radios can get through NYC -- but it's a really, really, bad idea to do this without planning it first. A little study would have saved Mr Langone a lot of embarrassment and trouble.

In about a week or two he will have a letter from the FAA. He will not like what it says...

I'm a little concerned about Mr Looney of the NY Police wanting more restriction. These little planes are not a threat -- Langone's Mooney weighs a whopping 3000 lbs or so, of which probably 250 lb is fuel. We all remember the Cessna that smashed into the building in Tampa, and the Cessna that a nutball kamikaze'd into the White House. In both of these cases damage to the building was minimal, but the suicide attacker was successful at the suicide part.

Peoria and Champaign are part of a seven-city "circuit" that moves and disperses terrorists to specific sites across the nation, says Peoria County Sheriff Mike McCoy.

McCoy got that information at a recent FBI conference in Springfield. He shares that snippet of intelligence not to panic central Illinois, but to stress what the FBI told police at the conference: America, including much of its law-enforcement community, has not taken seriously enough the threat of al-Qaida in this country.
