Monday, November 3, 2003
A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.
The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?
The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.
Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.
DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.
Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

Security Experts Are Watching for Guns Disguised as Mobile Phones
By ADAM ZAGORIN
From the Feb. 02, 2004 issue of TIME magazine
Don't be surprised if you're asked to whip out your cell phone and make a call next time you go through airport security. A mobile phone that masquerades as a gun may sound like a device concocted for 007, but it's the latest hidden weaponry to show up on the radar of law-enforcement folks.

Al-Qaeda Ideologist Warns of "Unimaginable" Attack
MIDDLE EAST: Louis Attyiat-Allah, an self-proclaimed Al-Qaeda ideologist, has warned that a massive Al-Qaeda attack was pending and criticized Middle East television channel Al-Jazeera for not airing all of a recent speech by Usama bin Laden.
In the recent issue of the Al-Qaeda biweekly magazine "Sawt al-Jihad", Attyiat-Allah said a possible future attack on the same scale as 9-11 was coming. He described it as innovative and would come at a time completely unexpected.
Attyiat-Allah said western analysts would be unable to predict when the attack could occur, because it would be "unimaginable in the normal way."

This sounds like one of Daleel's posts -- Daleel probably got it from that guy, I doubt it was the other way around.

More Catch's:
U.S. troops arrested nearly 50 people Sunday in raids in the Sunni Triangle after attacks in the volatile region killed six American soldiers.
Most of the arrests occurred in Baqouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, where 46 people were detained in a series of raids, the U.S. military said. Three were arrested for alleged anti-coalition activities and the rest for illegal weapons possession.

Robbie House, a security guard contracted by BASF Corp., told authorities his attacker was possibly of Middle Eastern or Pakistani descent. He also told police the gunman claimed to be photographing "lights." He also spoke in a foreign accent. But of course, any connection to terrorism is ruled out. Natch.

French Spy Chief: al-Qaida Not Destroyed
By JOHN LEICESTER
Associated Press Writer
PARIS (AP) -- The al-Qaida network has been severely destabilized but not destroyed by the war on terror and still represents a "very motivated and very dangerous" threat, the head of France's domestic intelligence agency said Friday.
At the same time, French intelligence has over the past 18 months monitored "a surge in strength" by terror cells that have no organizational links with al-Qaida but which "exist all over Europe," Pierre de Bousquet de Florian said in an interview with The Associated Press.

Iraq Weapons Hunter Faults U.S. Intelligence
Sunday, January 25, 2004
WASHINGTON U.S. intelligence agencies need to explain why their research indicated Iraq (search) possessed banned weapons before the American-led invasion, says the outgoing top U.S. inspector, who now believes Saddam Hussein (search) had no such arms.

Regarding your comments about the BASF chemical plant shooting incident, it just occurred to me that the (middle eastern or Pakistani looking, let's not forget) shooter's claim that he was "taking picture of the lights" might have been true. If indeed he was a terrorist, they might want to have exact knowledge of the placement of lights, so they could be shot out or otherwise eliminated, before an action. Especially if they themselves have nightvision equip.

I doubt that 20 feet of blasting cord is a threat, unless it were for bomb making.
I think that we kept 50 to 200 feet of it for our use and we were only weekend miners.
Now, the story with 2,000', is of interest, it would be one heavy and large bucket to hold that much, imagine 2000' foot of clothesline rope and you will be close, but the cord will weigh more.
It seems to me, that the 2,000' was a good story and now the fear mining starts, and any little story that can be found, will be published.
I would think that a lot of folks in New Mexico, could legally own blasting cord.
The only thing strange, was that the owner denies owning it.
It has been 25 years since we had need of it, but back in the heavy mining days, Mac a partner, went to Phoenix and bought the dynamite and we had gotten the rest from Mary.
Mac was legal, got the permits and signs for the truck.
I never went with them on blasting days, my eardrums were ruptured as a child, so I don't do loud blasts well.
Glad that I was young in the "Good Old Days", when we were still a free country. Doubt very much that I could get the permits to remove ore from the mine today.

But what is the real story? The London Telegraph quotes Kay as saying that Iraq's WMD were moved to Syria before the war.

Saddam's WMD hidden in Syria, says Iraq survey chief By Con Coughlin (Filed: 25/01/2004)
David Kay, the former head of the coalition's hunt for Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, yesterday claimed that part of Saddam Hussein's secret weapons programme was hidden in Syria. In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, Dr Kay, who last week resigned as head of the Iraq Survey Group, said that he had uncovered evidence that unspecified materials had been moved to Syria shortly before last year's war to overthrow Saddam.
