Al Qaeda again threatens New York, Washington and Los Angeles - Daily Terror Threat

Monday, November 3, 2003

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The message accuses the United States of predetermining its end (doom) by its policies. ?The Jews rule the Pentagon by remote control and (are the cause) of Muslims being killed in every corner of the world. The United States should therefore expect more blows.?

The message is signed on behalf of the al Bayan (The Threat) movement by ?your warrior brother, Abul Hassan al Khadrami?.

Our Muslim expert identifies the name of the signatory as belonging to a Yemeni from Hadhrameuth, the Bin Ladens? place of origin where Osama enjoys substantial tribal support.

DEBKAfile?s counter-terror sources stress that warnings appearing on these forums are taken both very seriously and with caution by the intelligence services keeping track of the terrorist network?s electronic traffic.

Last November, Jeddah-based fundamentalist forums addressed a message to an Al Qaeda member, saying whoever understands ? understands; whoever knows, knows, but we are marching towards an operation that will take us to Paradise. Three days later, the Mombasa Paradise hotel was blown up killing 12 Kenyans and 3 Israelis and a failed shoulder-launched Strela anti-air missile missed an Israeli airliner at Mombasa airport.

I'm a member of the II(Internet Intelligences), for those of you emailing me, asking about which branch of the GOVT, I reside in, I cannot safely say and I apologize for my anonymity.

Sounds like it in that paragraph, unless I'm mistaken. Sorry if I am.

Well we might be able to get it deleted, but then post 10,000 would be had by the dang moderator.

I certainly wouldn't rule out AQ trying to acquire Ebola, or using it by any means. I probably shouldn't be so quick to dismiss a report like that - it's kinda like the Egyptian government saying the plane crash wasn't terrorism moments after the plane hit the water. I was just poinging out that there could be a natural cause for it :)

On the other hand, I read Executive Orders and Ebola scares the **** out of me. Remember that quote? "Do you know how many viruses we know how to cure? None." That's scary. Fortunately some viruses can be controlled.

Bioweapons scare me much much more than chemical or nuclear weapons because like the Energizer bunny they just keep on going.

Speaking of diseases, one of my kids brought a note home from school today - it seems that they have a child with meningococcal meningitis in the school. The standard "if your your child develops flu-like symptoms with headache and stiff neck, please do not send him/her to school and see your pediatrician or nearest Emergency Room immediately" letter.

Maybe you should, that sounds better than my post #10,000:

"According to my latest calculations, 2 more posts until 10,000..."

Now that's a really impressive post for the 10,000 slot - obviously I intended to grab the headlines with that one.

Does anyone remember, a couple of years ago, a link to a "nuclear mapper". If I remember correctly, you entered a city, size/type of bomb, and it told you how far the blast would go, etc. I can't find it anywhere. Anyone, anyone?

"Saudi pleads guilty to killing Jewish friend...
No motive established but Houston student went to mosque afterwards"
_________________________________________________________

What kind of supposedly "peaceful" religion would tell you to kill someone? This is very disturbing! Also, he had the nerve to go to the mosque and pray afterwards. This worries me. This just shows that we are in a spiritual war. This is not a war between countries. It is a spiritual war much bigger than we will ever understand!

Thanks. I came across that one but it isn't the one I was thinking of (it won't let you enter a city). I'll keep looking but I appreciate your link.

Based on current events and what info is available, the 'first wave' of the attack was thwarted. I guessing the 'second wave' will arrive when the clock runs out.

Ok, guys..why are we giving SO much credence to a Script that any first year computer science student could have created on any website - anywhere? IMHO, this is a gag. (Not a very funny one, but a gag).small>

Nothing special about the the script. The "End US" page could have just contained a simple text message about something big happening to the U.S. by the end of 2/3/2004, it would have had the same effect. The reproduction of the timer that I posted on my website this morning caused a minor stir over at the "EOM and Daleel" Yahoo group. The count-down is one of many examples of recent Web-based Jihadist trash-talk. There are a few things that bother me about it.

- The fact that it disappeared so quickly once it started getting some attention.

- The fact that it ends around the time of the EID/Feasts/Islamic New Year.

- OBL is running out of time to conduct his promised martyrdom operation by the end of the year. What some thought was the end of the year has yet to pass for the Jihadists.

You mentioned the following:

"OK I agree with the assessment that Saudi Arabia is at VERY high risk, and probably in imminent danger of a coup."
___________________________________________________________

Possible coups taking place in Saudi Arabia and Pakistan really scare me. It bothers me more than the current terrorist threats to our country. If AQ were to be successful in these attempts, it would give them so much power. I am afraid to think what they would do. Look at how they are so eager to carry out "homicide" bombing attacks and other attacks like 9/11. These people are true fanatics. It definitely will not be easy to stop them. And, if so, it will only be temporary. Their "sick" ideology will carry on to the next generation. It is sad, but it is true.

Lord help us.

How important is it to calibrate the radiological survey meter? I have a CDV-717 which is not recently calibrated; I'm assuming that if a harmful radiation exposure occurred nearby, the r/hr meter would register somewhere way above the "zeroed" mark, at any setting. That should be enough to allow someone to decide whether to evacuate or shelter-in-place, right?

NEWS RELEASE

Paul J. McNulty, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, announced today guilty pleas of three members of the Earth Liberation Front ("ELF") on charges of conspiracy to destroy by fire vehicles and property used in interstate commerce. Adam Blackwell, age 20, pled guilty on December 18, 2003; Aaron Linas, age 18, pled guilty on January 7, 2004; and John Wade, age 18, pled guilty this morning. Each faces a maximum sentence of five years' imprisonment when sentenced by United States District Judge James R. Spencer in April. These are the first convictions in the country of ELF members.

ELF is an international group of people who use violence rather than legal means to draw public attention to environmental causes they choose to pursue. The greater Richmond area, including Goochland and Henrico Counties, was hit with such acts of eco-terrorism between July and October 2002. In all, over $200,000 in damage was done to businesses located in these areas. Some examples of the damage include:

pouring sugar into the gas and hydraulic tanks of construction vehicles and breaking the vehicles’ electrical systems;

defacing the glass windows of McDonald's and Burger King restaurants with etching cream;

destruction of the electrical systems, doors, and windows of homes under construction in Goochland County;

attempts to destroy a crane and other construction vehicles being used at a construction site for the Short Pump Town Center;

permanently marking the words AELF@ and ASUV@ on the windows and bodies of 25 SUVs at the Universal Ford dealership on Broad Street;

destruction of a Jeep owned by Whitten Brothers Jeep Chrysler by smashing windows and denting the vehicle's body with a bat or pipe, and slashing the leather seats; and

destruction of SUV’s at residences in Henrico County.

In each of these incidents, the perpetrators proudly left messages claiming responsibility on behalf of ELF.

The three defendants, all of Henrico County, were students of Douglas Freeman High School in the Spring of 2002 and were members of the Friends of the Earth environmental club - a legitimate extra-curricular activity of the school. However, they soon developed a reputation for having extreme views on the environment. They particularly did not like SUVs, McDonald’s and Burger King restaurants, and suburban sprawl. They became dissatisfied with legitimate means of environmental activism and turned to the violent and criminal means of ELF.

Wade and Linas were both juveniles at the time of the offenses and are being tried as adults because they were nearly 18 at the time of the offenses and engaged in sophisticated offenses that indicated adult behavior. Both Wade and Linas have waived the juvenile certification procedure, believing that they would be certified as adults for their conduct.

Each defendant has agreed to pay full restitution of $204,021.86, to the parties as set out in the plea agreements made available today. These figures were determined by the actual damages caused by the actions of these three individuals.

Mr. McNulty stated:

Make no mistake about it, this behavior endangers human life. Such violent conduct is not an appropriate way to express discontent with environmental policy and will not be tolerated.

Also announcing the pleas are Donald Thompson, Special Agent-In-Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Richmond Resident Office; Goochland County Sheriff James L. Agnew; and Henrico County Chief of Police Col. H. W. Stanley, Jr.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Brian Hood.
