Republican U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski has endorsed Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkin in the Alaska governor's race.
In a statement posted on Kreiss-Tomkin's campaign website, Murkowski explained her surprising choice to endorse a Democrat over the three Republicans in the four-way race, saying that the Democratic candidate wouldn't be "hamstrung by partisan divisions."
“Jonathan understands that governing requires listening to people with different perspectives and finding common ground to solve the problems all of us face. Alaska needs a serious conversation about our fiscal future, as well as a focus on the cost of energy and growing our economy. I believe Jonathan is committed to working toward solutions that serve all Alaskans, regardless of party," Murkowski said.
Polls show that Kreiss-Tomkins has a lead over his Republican opponents in the race, Alaska Public Media reported.
It was not the first time Murkowski's endorsements crossed party lines. She endorsed Democrat Mary Peltola in 2024 in her bid for reelection to the U.S. House, but she endorsed Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan in his reelection campaign this year over Peltola, who is running against him.

Hiss!
I think she’d understand.
Makes sense, she’s a democrat.
“surprising choice”
that’s funny right there, i don’t care who you are
This is why ranked choice voting should be abolished.
This is all over the news. As we approach the final days of this campaign, the Uniparty is pulling out all the stops to influence gullible low-information voters.
It should be outlawed.....................
She should be kicked out of the GOP and never allowed back in...............
I’ve long maintained that Murk, the Cow, has always considered herself to be a Dim, but does’t think she could win in Alaska as a Dim, and so plays this charade.
And she’s ugly as a dirty dishrag..............
One last infiltrator to clear out.
Crazy Liz
Massie
Cornyn
Thune
Turtle
I still say Cornyn is going to go after Cruz.
He needs to wake up and stop running for President.
Hell, she at one point couldn’t win as an R and pulled some BS as an Indi to win re election
Murkowski is a textbook RINO.
Her current term ends on January 3, 2029, following her victory in the 2022 election. She has already declared her candidacy for the November 7, 2028 general election.
Trump’s final GOOD DEED for America CAN BE I hope that he successfully grooms a Senate Candidate in 2028 to oppose and defeat this bitch. Musk can fund his/her campaign.
Sarah could have taken her out in ‘16 but chose not to. Murkowski is up in ‘28 so we’ll have to wait and see if the outgoing governor is willing to take her on. It’s way overdue.
If Alaska votes to keep ranked choice voting the state may as well be blue-no core values.
/ŏl′ĭ-gär″kē, ō′lĭ-/
noun
Government by a few, especially by a small faction of persons or families. Those making up such a government. A state governed by a few persons.
Let’s maybe hold off on that until the election is over.
Hate on her all you want, but even if she votes the wrong way 100% of the time (and she doesn’t, it needs to be noted) — it matters GREATLY who she caucuses with.
The Senate majority leader controls the agenda. Controls committee controls and assignments.
Hate on her - and Thune for that matter - all you want... But - we are MUCH better off if Chuckie doesn’t control the Senate.
I’m old enough to very much remember the Jim Jeffords disaster. We don’t want that.
How foolish is she?
Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords, Specious Alan Specter, etc..........
She’s no fool. She’s a democrat. They’re snakes, not fools.
Yes, good points. Understandable logic, but at some point we cannot be held hostage by WHO CLAIM TO BE OUR OWN!
