Obama Presidential Library Scandal [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 28 June 2026 | John Semmens

Posted on 06/29/2026 10:38:49 AM PDT by John Semmens

Former President Obama has frequently and falsely asserted that his administration had no scandals. His recently opened eight-story Presidential Library took $850 million to build. Chicago's much more impressive 100-story Trump International Tower also took $850 million to build. As is normal for Democrats buying stuff, many of the contractors who worked on Obama's Library have not been paid.

Obama pointed out that "we promised that building this structure would provide jobs and it did. It is not the fault of the Obama Foundation that the funds ran out before everyone could be paid. Considering the historic nature of my presidency and how this library will enable folks to visit a place that will help immortalize me, I think that being able to say you helped build it might be considered sufficient compensation for your efforts. In any case, all of our contractors were required to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) under penalty of forfeiting all claims to compensation if they publicly express any dissatisfaction with how they've been treated."

One contractor, speaking off-the-record, described the NDA he signed as "the most diabolical document I've ever seen. If I have to sue to get my money I'm barred from giving my lawyer any details about my dealings with the Obama Foundation. I'm not allowed to say what I was expected to do, how much I was told I would be paid, or whether I actually was paid. In effect, I'm not allowed to present any evidence without getting the Foundation's prior approval, which now seems very unlikely to be given."

Ironically, visitors to the Library are required to show a valid photo ID and pay $30 to enter. The former president opposes requiring photo IDs to vote "because voting is a right that no one should be denied for any reason. Entering the Library of the most consequential president of the twenty-first century is a privilege that everyone should be expected to gladly pay for."

For this and hundreds of other illegal and unethical actions Barry needs 25 years in Leavenworth. He is a total POS.

Reporting is consistent that resolution is in process via negotiations and litigation rather than a simple admission of personal nonpayment by the former president [1] [5].

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/money-donated-to-build-obama-library-being-sent-on-to-politically-charged-tides-group/ar-AA1NlYKJ

Millions of dollars sent to Barack Obama’s foundation has ended up being donated to a progressive fund that supported anti-Israel groups, accused of setting up encampments at Ivy League universities, according to public documents.

Donations to the Obama Foundation, set up by the former president to build a 19-acre campus including a museum, athletic facility and fruit and vegetable gardens in Chicago, totaling $2 million were instead sent on to Tides Foundation in 2022 and 2023, according to its latest available federal tax filings.

.......

Tides Foundation — also funded by Democratic mega-donor George Soros — is a network that operates as a fiscal sponsor for groups that have not registered with the IRS as charities.

.....

In addition to sending donations to Tides, the Obama Foundation has sent more than $3 million in 2022 and 2023 in grants to Gofundme.org for undisclosed “grassroots leaders to empower girls through education,” according to the group’s filings.

......

Among the highest-paid board members are Valerie Jarrett, a former senior adviser to President Obama and CEO of the foundation, who raked in more than $750,000 in compensation in 2023.

Robbin Cohen, executive vice president of the Obama Presidential Center, took in nearly $650,000 in 2023, according to the tax filings. Cohen is a former president of the Pritzker Realty Group, founded by Penny Pritzker, a philanthropist who is also on the Obama Foundation board of directors. Pritzker, whose brother, JB Pritzker, is the governor of Illinois, does not draw a salary.

“Do visitors still have to show a photo ID ?”

A couple days ago it was reported that you can’t get in without a photo ID.

Presidential libraries are constructed primarily with private donations raised by a non-profit foundation established by the former president. While private funds pay the upfront building costs, the federal government (via the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA)) takes over the maintenance, operations, and staffing of the facilities once completed.

“It is not the fault of the Obama Foundation that the funds ran out before everyone could be paid.”

Yes it is. They knew they were going to run out of funds to pay for it before it was finished and they lied to the contractors that did the work. The contractors did sign a non-disclosure document but the terms of the amount of the contract do not have to be disclosed and Illinois has prompt payment laws no matter what the amount or the services. Then they can put a lean on the building. Game over.

You will need to present a valid photo ID (such as a driver’s license, state ID, or Chicago CityKey) if you are requesting Illinois resident discounts, claiming free admission on “Illinois Free Days”, or picking up certain complimentary or military tickets. You don’t if you pay the full $30 fee for ages 12 and over.

I missed the satire part. Was it the part about visiting the library being a privilege?

The point is you have to present an id for the discount. presenting an id for voting should be no different.

maybe voting should be the same. $30 and you don’t have to show id.

I heard someone on Fox News say that maybe they should put voting machines inside the library.

When I was in charge of elections, one polling place was the library. I don’t think anyone got any smarter.
