Japan’s new Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, has delivered one of the clearest rejections of mass immigration seen from a major industrial nation in decades.
In remarks now circulating globally, Takaichi stated she would rather allow Japan’s population to decline than rely on large-scale, low-skilled foreign labor. She called for a full pause and reassessment of immigration policy, arguing that economic convenience cannot override cultural cohesion, social order, and national identity.
Takaichi emphasized that Japan must rethink immigration “from zero,” warning that year after year of importing people with vastly different cultures has created unsustainable tensions. She rejected the automatic merging of economic migrants and refugees and said those exploiting asylum claims for financial reasons would be returned home. Illegal overstays, she added, will be removed, and all foreigners will be required to obey Japanese law.
While Western governments continue to use mass migration to offset declining birth rates, Japan is moving in the opposite direction, choosing demographic contraction over permanent cultural disruption.

I was worried about that.
Having done business in Japan for over 25 years, I can say the Japanese know their culture, ethnic purity and language is their strength. Has been for hundreds of years.
Some in the west call them racist because of that.
In their case, I call it national survival.
The World is chuck full of low trust nations . Getting to a society that is high trust is not easy . Few nations have achieved it and importing people from low trust places is a obvious way to ruin it. Who thought importing people from a nation specializing in piracy was a good idea?
Hardly anything ‘racist’ about wanting to preserve your culture, national identity, language and ethnicity.
The true racists are the ones who wish to water down a culture or ethnic group.

I have heard reports of high-skill immigrants coming to Japan. Apparently, if you’re really good, you can get a visa. However, they won’t let you become a citizen.

That is my understanding as well.
Japan allows people to come to Japan to work. When they retire, they go back to their home country.
The solution is so simple. Why can’t the USA politicos adopt the same policy?
US needs to shut down the UN building and use it for something constructive.
The islamocommies (that includes US demoncrats) control it and launder $$$& through it now. The UN is worthless weight around Amerca’s neck.
The fact that the Japanese like their culture and want to preserve it makes it enjoyable and interesting to visit. I don’t like large cities but if I had to choose between Berlin and Tokyo, even though I’d be considered much more ‘alien’ in Tokyo, I’d choose Tokyo.
Because our leaders in BOTH parties apparently find some worldwide right that everyone has some odd inherent right to come to America at our expense.
Kick them all out. Import everyone in the world with an ounce of Japanese blood to spend a year there. A constant sabbatical will allow for preservation as well as change.
They might even invite summer interns before the yearly sabbiticals. Don’t they do it in Israel?
