I’ve had my hopes dashed too many times in the past. I remember an editorial in the Wall Street Journal back in the 90s when the Lewinsky scandal broke- the writer said ”the sound you here in Washington is the sound of Teflon cracking”. Clinton was, of course, the Teflon President.

And what happened to him? Pretty much a slap on the wrist (and probably an ashtray thrown at him from Hillary…

And then there was Obama, Hillary as Secretary of State, and Biden. None of them really ever got punished for anything.
