Grok, can you prepare a list of everything I will need to solo climb Mt. Everest?

Below is a comprehensive, no-BS checklist for a solo, unguided, no-O2 climb of Mt. Everest from the Nepal South Col route (the only realistic solo option today). Reality check first: Solo Everest is illegal without a permit (you still need the $11,000 Nepal permit + liaison officer). No commercial operator will support a true solo climb; you’ll be self-sufficient from BC upward. 99.9% of “solo” claims used fixed ropes, camps, or O2 left by teams. Death rate for solo attempts is >50%. If you’re asking this question, you’re not ready.

I hate those glass doors. They make me feel trapped, the track collects dirt and mildew, and I’d want just a shower curtain.

If you're going to risk your life doing something dangerously stupid, make it something unique and meaningful.
No one cares if yet another egomaniac staggers to the top of Everest. It's been done already.
Think of something else.

Was “train” on the list? Because that’s the only way I’d be climbing Mt. Everest.

From pics I’ve seen you might need one of those landfill dozers.

Have you seen the LINES of climbers waiting at the summit these days? I thought this photo was a joke when I first saw it, but it's the real deal. Conquering Everest used to be celebrated as the ultimate grueling test of Man over Nature. Looks a bit more like standing in line for the Matterhorn at Disneyland lately :).

Hahahahaha!

Awesome! I am ready to go. Then, it is only when I am near the top, that I find some key thing was left out by AI...and my body is there as a mile marker for years until the snow completely covers it...:)

My bad!

Heck. It has turned into a tourist attraction anyway-I Photoshopped the hot dog stand, but this image is real with all the people there!

LOL, in this case, Grok told me to bring my crampons, but no yellow mustard!

I’ll do it. When there’s an escalator. With pee breaks every mile or so. And beer stands. Lots of beer stands.

Everest is so crowded, nobody goes there anymore.

Seriously. You have to wait in long lines all the way up. There are dead bodies stockpiled at higher altitudes, because nobody can bring them down. Or there were until last year when a big effort was made to bring down as many bodies as possible.

"I hate those glass doors. They make me feel trapped, the track collects dirt and mildew, and I’d want just a shower curtain."

I usually wipe the water off the tracks when I get out, but you can't get in between the doors to do it, and you're right, dirt and stuff gets stuck in the corners of the track where it's attached to the tub itself on both ends. And my tub is avocado green, so you know how old that is. It was here when I moved into this apartment 25 years ago.

As it is, I was lucky that they took out the old sliding doors and put new ones in back in 2011. Those doors had etched green plastic where the glass would have been, and you couldn't wipe them down properly because of all the little grooves that were in the plastic. That track had years of grime on them you couldn't get off. I was glad to see them go.

I was in my early 50's when I moved in, and had no problem getting in and out of the tub. I used to enjoy taking a bath, and soaking in the tub, but I don't dare try to do that now, I'd never be able to get up. I asked the landlord a while back if I bought safety bars, if they'd install them. Nope! They don't do that kind of stuff because they could be sued if it wasn't installed properly. Despite that, they'll have to carry me out of here, because the rent is so cheap, and I have central air. None of the other apartment complexes they own, and they own most of them in this city, have central air.

We used to live in a place that had a tub and a walk-in shower. When my back went out, I could use the shower.
Now we have two tubs, and I miss the shower.

When we’re both retired and get a condo, it has to have a shower. I don’t want to deal with tubs anymore.

Walk-in showers are awesome. My niece has one at her camp up north and one in her home. That's why I enjoy visiting her when I can. I know I can easily walk in and walk out.

My brother had a knee operation some years ago, and we took care of him for a while. It was a real pain for him getting in and out of the tub to shower with a walker.

It caused me to be curious about showers, and I learned about the ‘zero entry’ or ‘curbless’ shower. It’s a wonderful thing for a lot of us older people:

I think I'll take a spin on Skyline Drive instead. The foliage is gorgeous this time of year.

"At 75 I’m happy to be able to climb out of the bathtub."

A man older than you has summited Everest. And a woman almost as old as you.

Shower curtain with a curved bar (outward) for more space. Awesome.

Glad to see fellow Messner fanboys here

Truly number one

I remember when he went left middle of night alone

No Os

Then walked down other side and climbed another peak alone

Eccentric no question

But man he had endurance
