Not sure what the claim of a new war is about....
Probably more than anything those that consider themselves Russian.
the ones involved themselves in the separatist movement.
He needs to end this thing before tomahawks come in....which will make tomohawks come in.
Clever...but short sighted.
Been there, done that. We lost the drug war. Look up Plan Colombia. The cocoa growing areas in the Amazon are massive. No roads, most everything goes by river networks.
When I “ Participated” in that war, we could only spray a hundred or so hectares every few months. Our OV10 and Air Tractor spray planes didn’t have the range to get deep into the Amazon where they would grow.
What?
No way that is true, honestly it’s bizarre you said that. Why in the world would Putin go in and genocide the people in Eastern Ukraine who liked him and wanted to secede TO Russia….that is who I was clearly referring to.
Makes zero sense, less than zero.
Now those Russian minorities that were his enemies and the Ukrainians maybe he did genocide them. I don’t know…I doubt if he did that intentionally either. If he did then of course I condem him.
Destruction of the crop may not be the goal. Interdiction of a significant quantity of the product leaving the country, or the money flowing in, may be the goal. I think Trump is enough of a realist to know that much of the problem is with American demand. If he puts a hurt on the domestic market, he may drive some folks to Mexican meth, or Chinese synthetic opiates routed by Mexican cartels. It would be necessary to sink some more drug boats.
Between the USA and the Russian federation? Yes
Ah. Ok, those who consider themselves Russian.
The tricky thing is that even in earlier polls (pre 2008) there were many who said they were Russian but Ukrainian and didn’t want yo be citizens of the Russian federation.
Nationality is fluid in most parts of the world
I remember the Air America days, and the Barry Seals/Eugene Hasenfus stuff. If Petro wants to continue playing El Presidente, he should probably moderate his tone. That shouldn’t be difficult, considering how far he’s gone. He may also have to get used to “fishing boats” going boom when they leave Colombian waters. I half expect DJT to announce one day that millions of $$$ have been seized from the cartels, and will be used to fund the Big Beautiful Ballroom.
EVERYBODY would have won if Ukraine didn't STUPIDLY listen to Boris Johnson about a month after the war started in 2022. They had a peace deal worked out and then Boris Johnson told Ukraine to nix the deal because NATO would supply them with all the weapons they need. So they backed out of the deal and now Ukraine in whatever is the outcome, will not get nearly as much as they would have in 2022 and both Ukraine and Russia ended up several hundred thousand of their citizens fewer due to being killed.
What if a whole of the continent approach is considered. The middle east provides a template. Instead of a tri-lateral solution, why not a real multi-national effort? President Putin has his reasons to distrust NATO, just as they fear he will not stop at Ukraine.
What if part of the security guarantees, for both warring sides, involved open, monitored elections in the disputed oblasts. Then a written assurance that all parties, (Uke, Rus, US & Europe), commit to rebuilding Ukraine, the oblasts and Russia, along with economic and trade provisions?
We do not know what is going on behind the scene, but I have to wonder if anyone has put the suggestion to President Putin. All i have heard from Europe is a desire to bomb the hell out of Russia.
Heck, hold in Warsaw. The Polish people may like the idea of hosting, they have an immediate interest. Imagine a once member of the Warsaw Pact, now NATO nation providing the backdrop. I think it could be a beautiful optic.
Anyways, I appreciate the cordial discussion. I will check back after to work to see your thoughts. In the meantime, try to ignore the white noise. Passions are very high.
Regan’s administration had the strategy of interdicting the drugs at our borders. We then shifted to eradicating at the source, Plan Colombia. Both failed.
President Trump’s strategy of blowing up the drug runners in the water, enroute to the US sends a message, but will not stop the drug trade. To much demand, way to much money involved, to many entry points, and to many “ methods” of moving it to the US.
All that said, the past few Colombian Presidents are leftists, Trump haters, like Mexico’s current liberal female “leader”. I was in Colombia when Uribe was President, ( even met him), he declared war on the drug cartels, but all the National Police and armed forces were corrupt.
Besides being corrupt, the current “ leaders” will never support anything Trump does, they will lose to much money from the drug trade. They are in on it in one way or another.
“ As for Ukraine, it gets enough power, fuel and portable generators to outlast most problems. All Ukraine and the EU have to do is hang on long enough.”
**********************************************************
“Hang on long enough”. From the beginning of this fratricidal war I’ve compared the two side’s strategies and approaches to the war.
Russian conscripts are not assigned to units outside of Russia for their term of service. Some may engage in battles, firefights and be subjected to aerial and artillery attack but that occurs only in the limited areas where Ukrainian forces have entered actual Russian territory. Most receive their training and are then discharged after completing their required service. Russian combat forces are made up of volunteers (albeit encouraged to volunteer by offers of substantial financial and other benefits). Once they complete their contractual time they are free to decide to “re-up” or to be discharged to enjoy their benefits. In other words, there is “light at the end of the tunnel” for Russian service members.
Ukrainian conscripts on the other hand receive limited training once drafted and are quickly moved to forward units (except possibly for the politically connected). THEIR term of service is FOR THE DURATION. In other words they are in until they are killed, maimed too badly to continue serving or successfully desert. There is no “light at the end of the tunnel” for these poor guys. Imagine the morale in the Ukrainian ground combat units.
Regarding your rosy picture of russian conscription and moral, there has been, for many years, lots of evidence to the contrary. Here is one of many links to be found, this one more recent, but you can go back to when they were arresting war protestors in Moscow shortly after the ‘special military operation’ began nearly 4 years ago.
Ukrainians may be tired and not in high spirits, but they fight for their home. That makes up for a lot.
Sure. If the CIA is involved, it’s likely that they profit from the trade, as well. Loss is baked into the whole thing. It’s just a fight over percentages of the market, IMO. It’s very much a left vs right conflict. Drugs and terror provide a convenient cover for that.
They probably have thousands of Tomahawks in the inventory. They don’t make many, because they don’t use that many. I have heard for years how we don’t have fighters (but they have built some 5-9k F-16’s), no tanks (5-8k of Abrams) and no old inventory 9-10k of M60’s (upgraded), and no armored PC-yet 6-8k bradleys in storage. The stuff in storage would support most militaries for many years.
They have probably thousands of Tomahawks at sea right now, in various ships, and more probably sitting in cans for storage. Those are the standard anti-ship models. I have no idea how many airforce models, but they have been building them for a very long time. I am aware of the Flamingo, supposedly building 24 a months+, but i doubt they will have ‘thousands’ by 2026.
“””””In the 1840s they had whale oil lanterns, wood stoves and proper clothing etc.”””””
People do that on survivalist threads also, as if we could all suddenly use horses instead of cars, forgetting that not only are there few horses, the entire horse industry of saddles, leather works, blacksmith shops and stables at every house and buildings no longer exist, the cities and houses of the past were built for a world without electricity, before there was electricity.
LOL - ganeemead, you have posted numerous times Ukraine was already completely and fully defeated - going on for *years* now. In the threads those who pointed out the source was bunk, you demeaned, laughed, insulted, etc. saying the “regular news is 3 days behind” and everyone would soon know it was over and how stupid those people who claimed your sources were false would be proven to be. Of course, they were right - time and time again.
Years pass, and yet you continue this charade that you obviously had to know was and is false - this was already over years ago, months ago, weeks ago, etc. according to you.
It is Danny Haiphong, Trotskyite, pro-Chinese communist party, anti-America, anti-West. This is the banner to his Patreon page:

Ganeemead avoids posting the actual name of his sources for his threads. Because most of his sources either have no credibility or are hostile to U.S. interests.
So when Ganeemead posts from Danny Haiphong, Clayton Morris, Scott Ritter, the New Atlas, etc, we already know where it is going.
