Leaked Russian defense industry documents reveal an ambitious 10-year plan to rebuild Moscow’s tank fleet, aiming to produce over 2,600 new and modernized tanks between 2026 and 2036. This challenges previous, lower Western estimates of Russia’s industrial capacity. The plan prioritizes mass production of the T-90M, including a new T-90M2 variant, and the extensive modernization of older T-72s.

Sounds like 1930 and they’re planning on breeding 1000s of cavalry horses.
Anti tank weapons are cheaper and faster to build.
Well, there are a lot fewer tanks to “update”, so they might be able to hit these numbers.
The destroyed ones. How much is the scrap metal worth? Worth salvaging?
I think we should focus on our battleships ...

25 tanks a month, is 300 a year, or 3000 in 10 years. That’s what the Russians have been saying they are making and converting. The problem is that the Ukraine war, 34 months and 12k tanks destroyed, is about 353 tanks a month destroyed. Even with the Chinese, North Koreans supplying them, the stores have to be getting thin. The obvious next question is: Do tanks matter?
Yeah, that.
Create a blog, manufacture views, and somehow imagine that view count defines accuracy or merely quality.
Would agree...build drones, anti-tank rockets, and drone-defense systems. Total waste to build tanks.
Everyone knows you can’t conquer Europe without a tank army.
If you need a secret 10 year plan to rebuild your tank army you got way bigger problems than a lack of tanks.
Thought the next big war was going to be drones.
Well the T-14 Armata was a very bad start
You’re right, it looks like tanks are the battleships of our time.
It seems none of them-American, German, British or Russian-have a very long half life on a battlefield filled with drones.
Agreed, and the days of mass armor formations ruling the day, like the Calvary charges of the past are over.
More manned tanks? If true, it is a historically stupid decision. Manned tanks are too expensive, too slow and deliver too little bang for the buck in the end. Generals who want to develop a new generation of manned tanks are like generals of early 20th century who wanted to keep cavalry troops, or Air Force Generals today who want to keep manned fighters. Some people are just slow realizing that advancing technology can change everything they always took for granted. My personal sentiment is to go the other direction and build BOLOs, but that would be a waste of time as well because large quantities of precision hypersonic missiles changes everything. This applies to large surface ships as well, as we are going to unfortunately find out if we have a war with China.
