Those taken into custody included Comptroller Brad Lander and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams....State Sens. Julia Salazar and Gustavo Rivera were also arrested... This is a classic case.

A lefty politician was beaten to a pulp by black muggers—almost died.

“Looking back on that encounter in Bushnell Park, Mr. Carbone says it helps explain the societal forces that led to the crime committed against him.

He is reluctant to condemn the youths who attacked him. “I don’t know what they’ve been through,” he said.

“It is the broken system, the poverty of Hartford that creates this kind of violence.”

In his view, solving the crime against him isn’t as important as addressing its root causes.

“Every year, Hartford gets poorer even as the state remains one of the richest in the country. Single mothers work two low-paying jobs and can’t provide the support their children need.”

There are many places in the world where people are incredibly poor and don’t mug passersby.

It's always about the "root cause" and inevitable the left decides the root cause is lack of money. The real "root cause" is lack of moral compass - knowing what is right and what is wrong and deliberately choosing to do wrong. Criminals could get a job if they so desired, but stealing from someone who presumably did work for the money is easier than working. Society cannot support endless theft (endless theft is the core of socialism, but that's another topic) because you run out of victims to steal from. look at the areas in blue cities that are retail deserts - caused by endless theft. My opinion is that professional thieves should be executed - three strikes and you're dead.

I just read that a bunch of illegal alien scum are filing a lawsuit because they are freezing in San Fernasco and they don’t have any beds. To me, they are still a hell of a lot better off than when their government kicked them the hell out of Venezuela and they had to walk all the way to America carrying five kids, their mother and father and all of the in-laws on their hips.
