Curtis Sliwa at Press Conference

I believe Curtis has been running for mayor for the past 25+ years.

After watching this impromptu incident during his recent press conference I’ve come to the conclusion that, if this man had money, he would win the mayorship hands-down.

I believe the latest polls have him at 28%.

He has refused President Trump‘s endorsement, believing that he can do it himself.

"He has refused President Trump‘s endorsement, believing that he can do it himself"

He'll come back to Trump when he's damned good and ready.

I like the guy, but he’s a total clown and has somehow reached the age of 70 without any productive skills that I’m aware of.

At this moment in time Curtis would be a good choice for mayor. I’ve enjoyed his law & order message for decades now.

“…without any productive skills that I’m aware of.“

Creating an organization to selflessly protect the public from thieves, killers, rapists and scumbags is far more than most people have done.

He has always been a masterful PR guy.

The Guardian Angels took a major hit to their reputation in the early 1990s after Sliwa admitted that they had been staging incidents to enhance their reputations.

Read up on his personal life and spend a few hours listening to some clips from his old radio shows. He is a strange dude — kind of like a working-class version of Woody Allen among iconic NYC characters.

He really does appear to have a heart for people. How that works into policy I don’t know, but he’s worth a listen.

He was a successful radio talk show host for a while.

I actually think he might have won something without wearing his Guardian Angels hat as a candidate.

But he’s been a very productive member of society, from creating and running the GAs to being a talkshow host for 30 years.

(Far more productive than most of the financial leeches that his city is known for.)

Talk about a self-own.

“Successful” is a relative term. I was a big talk radio listener years ago, and I never remember Sliwa hosting shows in the prime radio hours. He always seemed to be relegated to late night and overnight slots. That was actually part of his appeal, as those slots were ideal for a colorful guy who could generate local interest without competing with nationally syndicated shows.

The stupid red beret actually reinforces my point that he’s a clown who has always been about building and maintaining an image.

I used to cross paths with him all the time when I worked in NYC. There was one time I shared an elevator ride with him and he wasn’t wearing the thing. I didn’t even recognize him until I heard him speak.

That’s why I brought it up. I think it hurts him in politics.

The morning “Curtis and Kuby” show on WOR was very good.

Ultra lib (but very smart) Ron Kuby, esq was the perfect partner for the over-the-top Sliwa. I learned quite a bit from their shows. It was an oasis when Stern’s show became tedious on the morning drive-by. Their back and forth and banter was great.

“kind of like a working-class version of Woody Allen among iconic NYC characters” is the BEST description of Sliwa ever. Well done.

Curtis Sliwa in 1979.

This guy is the real deal, with tremendous people skills honed for decades. He knows how to spot a phony. He knows how to work through others. He knows how to bring people back from the edge. He may be misguided upon occasion, but he'll fix it if he hurts somebody. He clearly knows how to get others to work together in difficult situations.

That's a lot of what goes into a mayor's job. With a bit of guidance from the likes of a Giuliani, I think he could do it. I have little doubt he could find the help.

If I lived in NYC...

I'd vote for Curtis Sliwa

Then I'll have my head examined to see WHY I'M LIVING IN NYC...

Then I'd move...
