A House panel moved to subpoena Bill and Hillary Clinton in an Epstein investigation.
GOP Congressman Scott Perry (PA) called up the motion to subpoena the Clintons during an Oversight subcommittee hearing on the Epstein files.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer now has to issue the subpoenas.
“The subpoenas will be issued in the near future,” a House Oversight Committee aide told Fox News.

A House panel Wednesday voted in favor of subpoenaing former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., offered a motion during a House Oversight Committee subcommittee hearing to call on Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., to subpoena people with possible links to Ghislaine Maxwell, the imprisoned former associate of late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
“I have a motion to subpoena the following individuals to expand the full committees investigation into Miss Maxwell – and the list reads as follows: William Jefferson Clinton, Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, James Brian Comey, Loretta Elizabeth Lynch, Eric Hampton Holder, Jr., Merrick Brian Garland, Robert Swan Mueller III, William Pelham Barr, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions the third, and Alberto Gonzales. That’s the full list, Mr. Chairman. And that’s the motion,” Perry said.

Leon Black, billionaire art-collector and co-founder of Apollo Global Management, one of the world’s largest private-equity houses, wired Jeffrey Epstein $158 million (plus a $30 million loan) between 2012 and 2017 for “tax and estate advice.” Apollo’s board-ordered probe later valued the ideas at up to $2 billion in federal tax savings. Black and Epstein stopped speaking in 2018, but the payments kept haunting every institution that touched them.
How the relationships fit together
Black & Epstein. Black said Epstein delivered sophisticated planning on trusts, art and philanthropy, a claim Dechert, the law firm hired by Apollo, partially backed, crediting those strategies with slicing as much as $2 billion off Black’s eventual tax bill.
Apollo. Founded in 1990, Apollo now stewards roughly $455 billion for pension funds and sovereign investors. Investor fury over the Epstein ties forced Black on January 25, 2021, to announce his resignation as chief executive, effective by his 70th birthday that July.
Dechert. A trans-Atlantic law firm known for investigations and complex finance, Dechert’s 2021 report concluded that Epstein’s input, though lacking formal credentials, generated the headline tax windfall.
Bank of America & FinCEN. Epstein’s death in 2019 didn’t prompt action; only in 2020 did Bank of America file two Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) on the $170 million in wires, years after the 60-day federal deadline and after noting the transfers had “no apparent economic, business or lawful purpose.” Senate staff have urged the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) to investigate the late filings. FinCEN is the Treasury bureau that collects SARs and enforces the Bank Secrecy Act against money laundering and terror finance.
Why compliance teams should sweat
AML meets tax. Anti-Money-Laundering (AML) rules require banks and broker-dealers to detect and report suspicious activity under the Bank Secrecy Act; regulators view delayed SARs as a potential breach of those duties.
Economic-substance peril. If the IRS re-labels Epstein’s “consulting” fees as sham, Black could lose the deductions and face 75% civil-fraud penalties.
Form 886-A spotlight. During an audit, agents lay out each proposed adjustment, and the law supporting it, on Form 886-A, Explanation of Items. A flimsy business purpose can unravel under that microscope.
Aggressive tax planning isn’t illegal. But hiring an unlicensed felon, letting a bank ignore red flags, and relying on a late-breaking SAR to paper it over turns “tax efficiency” into a governance grenade.
Before you toast billion-dollar savings, ask: Will this plan survive both Form 886-A and tomorrow’s front page?
