Olds Rocket 425… great engine
My dad had a 1963 olds with the older version, a 394. It only had a 2bbl carb. One day I took it on the NY Thruway and managed to bury the speedometer needle on that tank.😁🙂

And only see them on the road twice a year ...
I am in Phoenix, and I see them a lot more than that. One well worn Chevy Malibu in 1965 …. the seats were in shreds, but the old guy driving it (in 2019) was the original owner. My wife was driving a 1973 Dodge Dart in 2002 as a daily driver and I was driving a 1976 Dart at the same time. Both were done in by Illinois road salt. The slant sixes were going well. My 1965 Chrysler 300 hardtop coupe is still on the road in northern Illinois with a new owner, seeing light duty these days. The 383 is still fine. Brakes are an issue. The large molar were popular in demo derbies, sk they don’t show up as much. I see old GMs from the early 70s as both show cars and beaters/hoopties. Maybe the ocean salt rusts out the ones in Florida, but they are a thing here in Phoenix.

Leaned to drive in a ‘64 Impala
My 64 can pass almost anything except a gas station 🙄🙂. But it's fun to drive and has well over 200k on the 327 since it was rebuilt. Still runs good and not even the valve guides are leaking, something small block Chevys are known for

About four weeks ago i finally let go of my 92 Bonneville SSE project car.
Needed more work and more $$$ than i was able to put into her.
Sad day, but id rather see her on the toad than wasting away.

Noted you left out handling and braking from your accolades.
Still remember my father’s rage at GM for no water temprature gauge in his Pontiac behemoth. Engine cooked with no indications until too late.

The 3800 was a GREAT engine.

There is NOTHING like sliding into the front seat of an old 60s or 70s street cruiser.
Pontiac… Plymouth… Olds… All gone now.
Had an Olds 442 Cutlass for awhile. Great car. Chirped the tires through all gears.
375 bucks off a corner lot

I love my 1963 Ford Thunderbird.

Dad had ‘73 Imperial. I think a filing cabinet would fit between the grill and radiator.

Land Yacht?
The Cadillac ElDorado Convertible 1975!
Now that is a true land yacht.
Mount a pair of davits on the trunk and carry a Fiat 500 as a dingy!

“…can you say 6 miles to the gallon…”.
That is mileage that is actually worse that my dad’s ‘74 Jeep Wagoneer.
Pretty impressive.

My mother drove a ‘73 Coupe Deville. Same kind of thing.

We also had a Plymouth Fury! That came after the Mighty Mercury and the Plymouth Belvedere. Good times.

Why would you do a fool thing like that?
The UK roads are NOT built for cars that sie.

Hahahahaha!
When I was 17, I was in a CYO band, and our band leader handed my buddy in the drum line the keys to his Cutlass 442 to go pick up some fried clams for him and the staff.
As we were walking away, I heard the admonition “I don’t want to hear any tires squealing or laying of rubber…”
All five of us Drumline reprobates piled into the car, and we weren’t even out of the parking lot before rubber was being laid! And as you said, that thing could chirp the tires in just about every year!
That one memorable voyage in that car was also significant, because I was in the backseat with no shirt on, and one of the kids in the front seat smoking a cigarette threw it out the window and it came back and landed behind my bare back… When I leaned back you can imagine the screech I let out!

The owner of the Caprice in this video says he gets 15mpg or so when he tours around Europe in it. That’s really not too terribly bad.
I’d love to see some reaction shots of Europeans fainting over this hulking mass of Detroit awsomeness.
